Hillcrest Vineyards - Yarra Valley - opening 18 & 19 Oct

Post by David Bryant »

Dear forumites

The following is posted with permission from Gavin.

My wife Tanya and I own a (very) small vineyard (Hillcrest) in the Yarra Valley which is about to make its public debut at the tender age of 32 years! We are opening to the public for tasting and sales for one weekend - on Sat 18 and Sun 19 October between 10am and 4pm.

Production is extremely limited with the 8 acres yielding about 4 tons in total - for an annual production of around 200 cases.

Keppell Smith (of emerging cult producer Savaterre) made the pinot and Martin Williams the chardonnay. From the 2003 vintage Phillip Jones (Bass Phillip) is making the wines.

The wines have been reviewed by James Halliday (2004 Wine Companion), Campbell Mattinson (Winefront), and Murray Almond (Winefront and other prestigious, worldly publications) and the feedback is pretty pleasing (consistent reviews and all rated between 90-94 points). In any event we are happy to let the wines speak for themselves.

If you are in the Yarra Valley that weekend please feel free to drop in and say hello. Address is 31 Phillip Rd, Woori Yallock. Phone 03 5964 6689.

Cheers
David and Tanya
