Indeed!

I'm probably more conscious of this through having to work with UK data protection laws (and remembering the crazy laxity we used to have ~2 decades ago). As an aside, I recently read about a (now shut) wine shop, that used to keep customer CC details on scribbled bits of paper

So, I was struck off the list for some reason. They are sending me a letter but something about an error last year (even though I got my wines delivered). I couldn't make much sense of it but the lady I spoke to was lovely. Anyway, they are no longer sending to my work address. Odd.

It’s been chaotic of late for me. I’m always chasing up my order or mailer. 30 years on list.

Excited to report my full request was offered. CC has a sizeable dent but all adult children should be happy! 6 each of the Shiraz offers, cab/malbec, straight Malbec, and three each of the Shiraz blends.
I will look forward to the esteemed scribes on TWF comparing the virtues of the two Shiraz’s. Will one be noticeably better than the other? Or not.

If it gets a big score it will be in high demand. Maybe like Giaconda?

Luckily I was alerted to Wendouree via a Huon Hook article in the SMH back in 1993. If I recall correctly Hook advised to write as opposed to phone - nothing has changed - which I duly did and have bought from the 1990 vintage and onwards till today. We visited Tony around 2002 and he showed us around the premises and allowed us to wander through the vineyards. I remember the Shiraz bush vines, gnarled and not trellised. Tony told my youngest daughter aged 6 that there was a resident kangaroo complete with Joey, and to go out to look for them. I took a few photos around the winery but Tony was camera shy. Great memories and solidified my love for Wendouree from then on.
I would say that Tony was forward thinking by introducing Stelvin caps from around the 2008 vintage. I find a much more uniform consistency in the wines from that vintage on. Wendouree is quintessentially a brilliant winery, with both folklore, quirkiness and extreme quality. An Australian treasure.

CC hit for what looks like everything I requested - mix 1.5 dozen inc. the Muscat. Green crayon. SA.

Looking forward to Erin Larkin's video review of this vintage too.

Not sure I should admit this but I am yet to try a bottle of Wendouree! My second year of successfully ordering after a few years on the list. Everything I've purchased has been put down to rest. Managed to get a 13 Shiraz Mataro from Auction to try. Any tips on preparing/decanting this?

Hi All.

Any interest in a mini Wendouree Shiraz vertical by the Melbourne group and any one available in Melbourne.

I’d really like a good spread of vintages and not younger than 2010. If you only have young vintages I’m happy to swap for something older or don’t have any Wendouree at all and still want to come along I’m sure we can something out.

I’m thinking that food and corkage would be about $120 each.

This is what I have available.

1991, 1996, 1999, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005 Shiraz.
1985 Pressings.
1997 Pressings Malbec.

We can start a new thread if there’s any interest.

Cheers Con.

Con

I joined the mailing list from the 06 Vintage, but I don’t think I have any locally pre-2010 - we got them shipped to Europe a few years before we moved to Auz.

I can swap you for a younger Shiraz. I’m not available until Mid Sept though.

Con
Think I can do any of the vintages from 1995 but would need to check. Timing could be an issue though, September and October not good for me.

Sent mine back on the 15th and not a peep since then. But then, I'm in Perth and we seem to draw the short straw much more regularly than the rest of you :x

Just open one and give it a crack, always good to open a few on release to see what they look like. We look forward to your tasting note soon 8)

I’m sure someone will put up the scores but not the notes. That’s beyond the subscription.

Sent mine back via Express Post on the same day that I received it, 11th July. Red Crayon. Alas, nothing yet.

What were the prices direct from Wendouree out of interest?

I called them last week to make sure my form was received. They'd had it back for at least 10 days and mentioned they were still processing forms.
