The myths and tensions build. With all these new local allocations and an elite section of the mailing list. Must be the legendary Gold crayon?

I don’t know about this. I have been buying via the offer from the 1990 vintage. That is 32 years constantly supporting Wendouree and their fabulous wines. I would be disappointed to hear there might be a hierarchy system that is to the detriment of some longer term buyers. I don’t believe it.

Nor do I buy it! It’s one of the wilder rumours since the sale to Hong Kong bankers.

I’m relatively new to it all so take what I’ve mentioned with a grain of salt. There is another person claiming he’s received the wine and price list but has been asked to not share it as it’s “under embargo”

I’m red crayon like most Wendouree- ites. I know some have the illustrious black signature . Is.there green crayon as well ? When I started with the mailer I was blank ! Now theres a gold crayon ( :P ) ? Is that between black and red ?

I would let that one go on AFF Sip...there is a fair bit of rubbish, dare I say it spam over there.
Order form sent back this morning...fingers crossed and hope that all who have been buying for decades enjoy the spoils, and those new to the Wendouree train get a bottle or two.

Cheers Craig
Tomorrow will be a good day

The embargo seems a bit far fetched.

Good to see the single block release of the 1893 planted Shiraz.

Fired away the order form.

1893? Is this the first time since the 1990 magnum?

The 24B release.
Tony was really impressed by this block and wanted to bottle and release it on its own.

This I think, is the last 24B release- in magnum only.

Received in Brisbane today. Do they still have the green stamp? That’s what I had last year but this year it’s a green crayon this time…

I got my Sydney based daughter to fill in and return my form. Phew!
Who knows how allocations are allocated. I’m really interested in the old vine Shiraz. Sounds like the 1990 old vine Shiraz, I’m sure it will be marvellous, especially as Tony Brady has seen such quality from the fruit in 2022. My wife has a better palate than me; I wonder if Lita is the real chief taster. Isn’t TB teetotal?

Nothing here in regional vic yet, but I’m also a first timer so I’ll probably get a decline letter

My letter goes to my mother in law, who has scheduled a double knee replacement for the week the Wendouree mailer comes out…not looking good

Sydney-sider here, I only received mailer on 11/7/24, but I won’t be able to post order form out until next week as I currently don’t have access to printer and scanner until then (to keep record of order form). For the heads up, I called the winery and spoke with Ms Brady, she assured me that posting out order form by then would not jeopardise my odds of getting the orders fulfilled. Fingers crossed that I can secure some bottles of Shiraz 24B, as I have never tasted the straight old vine Shiraz from the 1893 Central vineyard plantings. 🤤

Hi mate,

Best wishes to your mother in law’s surgery, health and wellbeing always comes first before securing scarce wines. 😊

My letter arrived today advising insufficient supply to send me the list but that they are hoping the 2023 vintage provides further supply and they can try to slot me in there. Hope all goes well for your orders !

If you are keen go for the Shiraz blends at auction. Seems to be minimal inflation above CD price.

I had a quick look on Langton and can see what you’re saying. I’ll hold off for now though as I’ve put in an Agricola order and the wife is saying no more spending for now hahaha

So I phoned Wendouree today and explained about my mother in laws knee problem and the wine will be sent to me this year instead of her, which is actually bad for me as I have no room for it.

In talking to them though I learnt a bit about the Contact Management System they use - the order form. As it was described to me, they keep the order forms for a year and use those as the basis of next years mailing. Once the mailing goes out, they then destroy last years order form as it contains CC details. It sounds to simplistic, but if that is the basis of how they do it it then it does explain how loyal customers dont always get looked after - with no history, there would be no way to differentiate between the newbies and the oldies. They did ask what colour of Crayon i had (red), which is a good sign, and from the sound of it, all reds are treated the same. No idea what the criteria is for becoming red or moving onto another colour. The mysteries continue.
