Bought a bottle of Jacky Blot Chenin tonight. Vin De France of course and forgot to ask the actual price…Boudignon Savennieres level…ooch.

6 2021 Wynns BL Cabernet, at less than the price of one bottle of Standish.
I should not be surprised, but with the 2022 releases just round the corner, stocks of 2021 are being cleared.
TWE and the chains must have oceans of this wine, happy to help out at 50%+ off RRP.

Cheers Craig

I wonder how many bottles TWE sells at RRP. Not much methinks. It's around $50 I think. Good wine but not worth RRP.

Cheers

Carl, I sincerely doubt it would be a single bottle
I was in the Harrods bottle shop on Friday, they had a cute little Pennies stand, with prices not too dissimilar to the chains. Store persons conceded that Pennies is a hard sell. Actually, most wine at Knightsbridge is a hard sell, didn't see any purchases during the half hour I was in there.
Grange RRP I think is $950, but a couple of stores in Adelaide were flogging it for $750.

Hmmm, $28.90 is the best I can find for the 2021 here in Perth.

WA WG, have a look at BWS clearance, or search Wynns...10% extra off in a 6, with everyday rewards. I have approx 30 bottle of this and a few magnums...I certainly don't need anymore. But, I could go hunting

Picked up a bottle of 83 Taylor’s Hermitage ant MW last night. Risky of course, but a low fill 75 is the best red that I have drunk over the last few years, so worth a shot.

Also bought a Little Wine #3 and a 17 Domaine Andree Anjou

Hey Mate.

The 03 St Peters was stored in climate controlled conditions since release.
This was part of about 50 bottles I had in this auction.

That's gold

Ed as an aside, the late 90s and early noughties St Peters are crackers...not sure if this was under Adam Carnaby's reign or someone else, but will live for ever and have great complexity with a couple of decades on them.

Con

Tom picked up a bottle of 89 Seppelt that was left at my place after last years Riesling/Shiraz tasting. There was also a 98, which I thought was his, but it’s not. Is it yours ? I think it’s the Grampians Shiraz.

Great to hear Con, thanks. I had a 1999 over Christmas that was absolutely singing. They’re brilliant wines

A mixed dozen from a national supermarket:
3x Paul Blanck Furstentum riesling. I loved their Schlossberg, so taking a punt on another, less lauded single vineyard bottling
1x croix de Chaintres saumur-champigny. I must have had this many years ago, but returning to it in the context of having developed a taste for Loire Cab Franc
3x Pruno Nero Dry Lambrusco. A solid Lambrusco, at a decent price
1x Tyrrells HVD semillon. We see too little Hunter semillon here, and whilst not the more prestigious SV bottling, still useful to have.
2x Florent Rouve Arbois Chardonnay. I think I met him when staying at Jean Rijckaert's B&B (Rouve was in partnership with him, with the endgame of taking over the business). Have been impressed by his wines.
2x Leiz Riesling Magdalenenkreuz Kabinett. Such a vibrant wine.

Bloody good red - a complete Aussie red. I bought a few at release and look forward seeing them in a few years. So glad they're under cork, for them to properly evolve.

Indeed WR, I have 6-8 vintages from 2002-19. Yalumba is so consistent, with Luisa Rose and KG at the helm. Heather Fraser doing good things in the Coonawarra. I would like to buy a lot more, Sanctum/Menzies/Cigar/Sig...and heaven forbid, one day a bottle of Caley...but don't have the coin, and got to scale back. At $30 I couldn't leave them on the shelf

12 x Jeanneret 2022 Cabernet Shiraz. A nice quaffer that needs a few years. Made in the bigger style but seems to maintain balance. A tightrope walk but they seem to get it right most of the time. They do some nice cab malbec blends too and straight malbecs which are worth a try. I'm on a call list (email, text) for heavily discounted dozen lots. PM me if you want the link.
