A few over the last Couple of weeks:

2 x 2019 Best’s Bin 0 Shiraz
6 x 2019 Wynns BL
3 x 2021 Bondar Rayner Vineyard Shiraz
3 x 2018 Leeuwin Estate Art Series Cabernet
1 x each 2004/5/6/7/8 Clarendon Hills Sandown Cabernet

Also having a look at some of the Torbreck on pre-order. Quite expensive, maybe just a bottle or two.

Cheers Ed

Well done on the Rayner Ed, picking up a half dozen myself. One of the really good Shiraz from MV, and quite well priced. Think 2021 Moonlight Hour might be worth a punt too, I suspect a better wine than the 2020. Andre and Selina doing very good things, been buying the wines for a decade now...2021 Violet Hour is a cracker.

Torbreck (gee what is it with really over priced wine in BV   ), will have to wait for the next life.

I tasted the Bondar Rayner Vineyard Shiraz 2021 at their cellar door, and thought it was outstanding. I purchased a bottle there and then, but thinking I will pick up a six pack.

Not really been drinking Chardonnay the past couple of years so took in 18 bottles to the MW Auction, which sold. Great. Not much really of interest for me except for a Single bottle of 2000 Granite Hills Riesling. That came in a mixed cased of 12 though, which means I have some 25 year old Semillon and Riesling and an accident meant I won 4 bottles of 02 Wolf Blass Yellow Label Riesling and 4 bottles of a 95 Sancerre. I like old white wine but really dont have the space. In for a penny though, so single bottles of
86 Baileys Hermitage
82 Brown Brothers Victorian Cabernet
80 Chateau Yaldara Hermitage
84 Chateau Yaldara Hermitage
81 Chateau Yaldara Cabernet

I almost bid for the Wolf Blass and the Sancerre last weekend, - i filled in the amount but did not hit the bid button. When I put the bid in for the Baileys, the old bids that I did not go through with were held in cashe and got applied, hence the extra bottles. Probably a software fault, but I'm happy to try them rather than complain. Might be different if it was something expensive though.

I'd have hopes for the riesling and Wolf Blass were certainly decent with it back then, plus a good vintage. 1995 Sancerre... by all rights it ought to be a risk, but such wines can often surprise.

Ian, I had a 1988 Baron De L last Nov and it was as fresh as a daisy, so hopefully the Sancerre is fine.

I picked up some 95 Wolf Blass Riesling at the previous auction as part of a mixed lot. With a cork and advanced, but it opened up really well over a few days. I’m hoping to 02 has a screw cap.

02 will have a screw cap MC...of the 60 or so Rieslings I have consumed or cellared from the 02 vintage, only Pewsey Vale and not surprisingly Rockford (who are cork adverse) had a screw cap. I am bemused by PV and spoke to Louisa Rose about it, particularly in light of the 1970s screw cap trials at Yalumba and the 02 Contours being under screw cap. Strange indeed.

Great pickup there Con. I seem to have avoided the last few MW auctions including this week’s. Must have a look next month.

I was paranoid that it was Con I was bidding against fit my 86 Baileys. Those Mount Mary’s must have been a distraction.

How old is MM in it’s current format Con ? The 74 is from a different era, but is it from a different owning family ?

I did see the Baileys but forgot to add it on the watch list.

Not sure about the old Moss Wood, didn’t think they went that far back.

Few photos of Moss Wood.
