Three Rivers Shiraz
Three Rivers Shiraz
Haven't posted for a while but back behind the easel after a few health issues.
Had another stab at Chris Ringland's signature wine.

Hahahaha. Surely you jest Jamie. Unfortunately, I'm not in the correct fiscal group to actually TRY this wine

Re: Three Rivers Shiraz
Not quite. I have one empty Three Rivers Shiraz bottle that took me several years to extract from Chris. He's actually posting another one today. Years ago I traded him a few paintings for his wine. He was extremely generous as I have always found him to be and so I got the better part of the deal. I will always have a soft spot for Chris because he was the very first wine maker to give me the go ahead to paint his wine bottles as still life.
I don't blame wine makers for being a bit hesitant to give me permission. I guess all they see are problems like "does he expect me to buy the painting when he's finished", or "how much is this gonna cost me" etc., etc. Chris was straight up and saw the value. The conversation ended something like, "if you love drinking wine and painting it, you must be in heaven".
Having said that I've painted a number of wines now. Rymill, Squid Ink Shiraz, Hare's Run, Torbreck, Glaetzer and a few others.

Nice work Rob. The background seems to reflect the current covid mood.
There's a fine line between fishing and just standing on the shore like an idiot.
Re: Three Rivers Shiraz
Thank you Scotty. Yeah, blue and black and complimentary moods are they.

Yes Rob, Ringers is an awesome bloke. Have had several chats over the journey. Purchased a sole bottle of 94...took eons to get on the list and then allocation was minuscule...drank it with the lad about 7 years ago. Love how you have captured the fleck in the bottle of the glasses.

Re: Three Rivers Shiraz
Thank you. I'm receiving better comments about this painting than one I did several years ago so I must be getting better.
Chris must be one of the busiest blokes in Australia. The bottle shown in the painting took about three years to get. He'd remember and then run out of time to post it.... ten times. I heard from one of the blokes he works with that he was running late one day because some tourists rolled up to his house and he felt obliged to give them a tasting
