Yes, please. Look forward to your TN on '13. I paid CAD170 for the '14 two years ago, then CAD 200 for '15 one year later and now CAD 255 for '16!Jimmya wrote:Ive got 4 bottles of the 2013...maybe i should try one..i got them in oz before the price went spasticFredericoWines wrote:Have you had it yet? Yes, but unless you like your wines young, hold off. It’s really really primary. I haven’t had many vintages of this wine, but I may start to seek it out a little more often.FredericoWines wrote:Have you had it yet? What's your take on it? Re: June 2020 Purchases
Napa Cabernets are usually big, and I too would wait on the Spottswood. It's also overpriced but that is a function of the US dollar (exchange rate) and American collectors driving the price up. I have very few Napa Cabs other than the early ones I bought many years ago when I first started collecting but have very fortunately found some spectacular deals and have added some '07, '09, '10, '11, and '12 Napa and Sonoma cabernets.

Yes. I stopped buying Napa Cabernet Sauvignon until a couple years ago. Before that I had wonderful wines like Shafer Hillside Select, Montelena Estate, Insignia, Beringer Private Reserve when they were only one third or fourth of what they are selling now. But I started buying them again as wines from everywhere are also going up in prices and they are not more expensive anymore, relatively of course.Mahmoud Ali wrote:Napa Cabernets are usually big, and I too would wait on the Spottswood. Although never had it before, I read that Spottswoode is not a typical California big, jammy, fruit bomb. Rather it's reserved and elegant, more of Old World style. Correct me if I'm wrong.Mike Hawkins wrote:Thankfully this isn’t as big as someMahmoud Ali wrote:Napa Cabernets are usually big, and I too would wait on the Spottswood. Not necessarily old world, but definitely medium to full bodied. Re: June 2020 Purchases
Lunch down at Coriole on the WKend. Superb.
Good to see some places starting to open up and getting some folk thru.
All CD's super organised running the CV19 protocol like clockwork. big tick.
Nice to kick back by the fire and watch the rain coming in thru the vale.
Some bits and pieces below;
1 X 2019 Chapel Hill Vermentino
1 X Chapel Hill The DEVIL Tawny
1 X 2013 Mary Kathleen Coriole Cabernet-Merlot (tried 2016 Lloyd RES, nice, but this left it in the dust IMO)
2 X 2019 Coriole Fiano
2 X 2019 Coriole Nero d'Avola
2 X 2010 Coriole Sangiovese
2 X 2019 Coriole Sangiovese
4 X 2018 Lloyd Brothers Miegunyah Vineyard Pinot Gris
1 X 2014 Lloyd Brothers GUY ANTHONY Sparkling Shiraz
5 X 2014 Lloyd Brothers Miegunyah Vineyard Sparkling Cuvee
1 X 2018 Lloyd Brothers 'The Olive Tree' Mourvedre
1 X 2018 Lloyd Brothers montepulciano
4 X Monsters Pet Nat ‘La Birba’ 100% Lacrima di Morro d’Alba, Marche IT

Re: June 2020 Purchases
Scotty V...just out of interest what does the Lloyd Reserve pull these days?
Have some 90s and 10/12 vintages but not purchased since
As for the other Lloyd (Lloyd Brothers) the lads, Matthew and David's parents (Guy and Adele) were our neighbours when we were youngsters. Simply amazing to be taken down to Adelaide airport in the mid 70s and be given a ride in a chopper out over the gulf to land somewhere on Yorke Peninsula.
I must drop into the winery one day and say hello.
Cheers Craig

A great drop no doubt but i preferred the MK. IN fairness the 2016 Lloyd res does need a few more years under its belt to strut it's stuff.
Prob not a fair showing.
Did speak to the staff @ Coriole regards the LLoyd bros and the setup they have going. Prompted a visit and purchase post lunch.
Also some discussion on the 1919 coriole vineyard which they believe was possibly planted earlier. There's some research currently being done to try and ascertain an accurate date.

Re: June 2020 Purchases
Schrodingers wine time.
Yesterday i ordered the following from my contact in Europe
1 * 18 Rousseau Clos de Beze
1 * 18 Rousseau Le Chambertin
1 * 18 Rousseau Clos St Jaques
1 * 18 Rousseau Gevry-Chambertin
1 * 18 Grivot Richbourg
1 * 18 Grivot Exchezeaux
1 * 18 Bruno Clair Clos St Jaques
1 * 18 Bruno Clair Clos de Beze
and told them I'd happy take a 2nd bottle if there was 1 available. In my head I own 2 bottles of each, if my wife ever asks "I order too much as there is no chance of getting it all", and with world demand still high, its quite possible I wont get any. Suitcase will be opened in a few weeks and the truth will be out.

decided to get back into buying a little wine, mostly in 3's or 6's
(not counting 2017 Burgundies, which are annual purchases and therefore don't count )
2009 d'Yquem (3)
2012 Pierre Gonon St Joseph (6)
2007 Amiot Clos de la Roche (6)
2009 Bouchard Corton Charlemagne (6)
2015 Chartron Chevalier Montrachet (CdC) (3)
2018 Pooley Pinot (12)
mixed dozen of the latest Standish releases, I've forgotten whether that is 2017 or 2018, I'll check when I'm next in the cellar
2015 Marchand-Tawse Mazis Chambertin (6)
2016 Chantal Remy MSD Clos de Rosieres (12)
mixed bag of Overnoy Jura
2017 mixed Peay Pinots (12)
2017 mixed Littorai Pinots (12)
... and there I was, promising to keep purchases to a minimum.
