TN: 2015 Cantine Nicosia Etna Vulka Etna Rosso

Post by Ozzie W »

Yet another new Etna producer for me. I must have tried around 40 by now. Still lots more to try -- CellarTracker has 163 producers listed for Etna DOC. :D

A blend of 80% Nerello Mascalese and 20% Nerello Cappuccio from vineyards at 650-750m. 13% ABV.

Red berries, dried herbs. Sour cherry, dry herbal finish. Less Etna minerality and lighter bodied than usual. Perhaps a bit simple, but still satisfying. Quite pinot-esque.

I paid $37 retail. It's certainly good value.

Yes. I purchased from a boutique store in South Melbourne that only sells European wines. Email/PM me if you need details.
