Sydney Offline - Sicily / Etna theme

Post by winetastic »

Wondering if anyone is interested in a Sicily / Etna themed offline on Wed June 13th, Thu June 14th or Fri June 15th?

Would be cool to see the likes of Passopisciaro, Lamoresca and SRC side by side.

Great minds think alike mate, was thinking of this theme...

Yes to all dates at this stage. I've got a bit of Passopisciaro plus a smattering of COS and Occipinti.

Sounds like an excellent theme.

I would be interested for sure. Wed or Thurs best for me but let's see where consensus lands.

Love the theme, count me in please
But geez we are like the SA opposites, barely enough time to source the wines!

Looks like we will have enough people.

Tamara and I are thinking of bringing an SRC Rivaggi Nerello/Grenache and either Occhipinti Siccagno Nero D’avola or Calcagno Etna Feudo di Mezzo Nerello. Also have some Passopisciaro options.

Would be great to get at least a couple of whites - I can get my hands on one of the Cos Biancos probably.

Throw your votes in the ring for the date.

Also any venue suggestions? I was thinking perhaps Russo and Russo in Enmore as I believe they are willing to cater to the offline crowd...

I would love to come to this. But other commitments don't make it possible on the proposed dates.

And moments after proposing an Ozzie debut in Sydney, i booked a work trip that sees me there on Friday evening.

Should that wind up being the appointed evening, I'm in please!

Just got off the phone with Russo & Russo who offer up a 5 course or 7 course shared tasting menu.

If we want to go with the Friday 15th option, they could seat us from 20:00 which does seem a bit late.

If we want to go with Thu 14th, they could seat us from 19:00.

Alternatively, Tamara and I would be happy to host on Friday the 15th in Camperdown (12min walk from Newtown station).

Please count me in. :)

I would prefer Friday 15/6/18, as I can afford to get really intoxicated without worrying about work the next morning. :P

I can live not eating until 8pm if it means we rumble on a Friday.

Friday seems to suit our out of town guests, so happy with Friday, if you're happy to host winetastic, an earlier start might be preferable?? Fine either way though.

I'm afraid with it being on a Friday I am out, sorry.

Enjoy the night.

I hope it doesn't get too messy, often the best wines of the night come out toward the end.

If Wednesday or Thursday suit the majority. I am happy to follow suit as long as we start before 7pm and finish before 10pm, as public transport can be a huge issue at night.

Well bugger it, a mix of views so ill just make a call and go for Fri 15th hosted at our place from 18:30. We can comfortably seat 8 and have plenty of spare Riedels and a couple of extra Zaltos for anyone from out of town.

As long as everyone is down for that, ill send a forum PM with our address and phone number.

In

TiggerK (2011 Passopisciaro)

That’s sounds fun. What part of town are we talking out of interest? Train, bus or helicopter?

Cheers

Looking forward to it Murray, thanks for hosting! I'll bring a Passopisciaro 2011 and will see how the lineup evolves as to what to bring as No.2.
