Hi there,
I run a website called www.goodgoonguide.com where I comedically review the cheapest wines in Australia. Specifically goon. Would anyone be interested in writing a genuine wine review of an Australian boxed wine that I could post on the website. I think it could be quite funny to get a real wine drinkers tasting notes on the cheaper end of wine. Unfortunately I cannot offer any money, as there is none in it ha, but it could be fun?...
If anyone is interested, please leave a message.
I look forward to hearing from you all...
Cheers!
Grant

Re: Wine Reviews
That's a fun challenge, but goons and I repel each other like two south pole magnets. Try as I might, the wine snob in me can't risk being seen or photographed buying a goon, not even in the interests of comedy. But I admire your dedication to the craft.

Without tasting a cask wine for some time, I reckon I could write a white wine review that would cover the gamut.
In a similar vein to the instant coffee I consume when I want convenience and a big mug, cask white wine is a similar bland imitation of the real thing. It is made to a price using non descript grapes like Sultana (irrespective of what is on the label), so the flavour is soft and bland. Because it is in essence a manufactured industrial product, the cheapness of the additives are almost guaranteed to give you a headache the next day if consumed in any quantity.

I think Mike Bennie reviewed a whole bunch of goon bags in the last year or two. I remember seeing photos of all the boxes on Instagram. No idea where it was published though. I'm pretty sure he did all the big brand Aussie beers too.

My mother-in-law swears by the De Bortoli Semillon Sav Blanc NV that's a bag-in-a-box rather than goon.I can say it's not a bad drop at all. Light and refreshing with the sav blanc adding a lot of flavour and semillon the backbone. Great QPR although its shelf life is very short. Check the use by dates carefully. Needs to be served chilled. Just add some boxing day prawns, cricket and a few ales. Roll on Xmas!!
