Folks
Seems to be about that time again to get together and enjoy some non-cyberspace conversation as well as good wine and food. No dates or venues decided yet but probably early November I would suggest. Please let me know if you are interested (Davo I've put you down already) and suggestions for a specific date, venue and theme (not that we necessarily need a theme) would be welcome.
Newcomers are very welcome and I highly recommend it as a great way to learn from some very experienced vinophiles (myself not included, I'm still learning!).

Party!
Sounds great, but I can't make it then.
I don't think I'd have a good enough pinot to bring anyway!
... though perhaps a 2001 Tarrawarra or Karriview might just pass muster.
Perhaps next time!

KevinT, usually about as often as someone decides its about time we should have one. I would suggest this would be the last one for the year but I am sure there will be more next year.
Sounds like the new date works for most people so if anyone would like to suggest a venue please feel free. So far we have the James St Kitchen which sounds pretty good. I will book in a couple of weeks so please let me know definite numbers by then and any other suggestions you might have.
Time to start hunting down some decent Pinot...certainly none in my cellar!

Dinner
Cousin It appears to have no hands, which is pretty suitable, as I am working that evening and can't make it along.
... unless turning up after 9pm is okay for dinner
No, I will have to wait for the next one
Have a drink or three for me!
Cheers!

I'm in for the 17th as well as a friend - so by my math that makes 2.
What's the WBI for an event like this? 3 bottles between the two of us (plus a spare in case of an "event"), or more? All pinot?
Cheers

Ok I have booked us into the James St Kitchen for 7:30pm on Wednesday 17th November. The booking is currently for 6 people but can be changed:
Davo + 1 possibly
MarkG + 1
Justin
Yours truly
Mark, I would suggest 3 bottles between 2 of you should be fine. I usually take a couple of bottles. Somehow we always manage to get through everything that is brought!
Any suggestions on a couple of good pinot's to bring? My cellar is totally devoid of them (I can hear TORB cheering already...).

Paul,
Another big night with all the WA mob rolling up I see.
As to PN suggestions, I see VC have Bass Phillip Reserve out for a piffling $375 a bottle. I am sure you can get some if you rush in before it all races off the shelf.
I for one would love to try it if you, or anyone else who feels inclined, were to bring it along.
The boss is still uncertain as she has a work do on the same night but I am a definite.

Well that means 4 bottles then, a WBI of 2 which implies a taxi home as a minimum.
Looks like I'll have to hunt out my empty DRC bot, give it a dust and wash, fill it with some Windy Hill (Paul from Byron style), use my ah-so to re-cork it .... ta daaaah! A real crowd pleaser, and a photo for Attilla as well ....
Looking forward to the night.
Cheers
