I'm in. Thanks indeed for arranging .

Just confirming the theme - Langton's classification with a '6' vintage?
Wine, women and song. Ideally, you can experience all three at once.

I'm in.
I had a 2009 Jasper Hill Emily's paddock pencilled in. The 9 is sort of a six! depends which way u look at it.
Otherwise a 2006 Katnook Estate Cab Sav.
As this will be my first offline what do u guys think.? Will this be up to par? :?

I'm in.

Have a choice of:

Wendouree Cab Malbec 1996
Penfolds Bin 389 1996
Charles Melton Nine Popes 2006

And even though they're not in the classification, as an alternative am happy to bring along one of the Rockford SVS series from 1996 as they likely need to be drunk now.

Consensus can choose.

I had planned to bring a 1996 Charles Melton Nine Popes Magnum, unless George wishes to bring his, then i will choose something else.

Hi,

I’d really like to join you guys for an Adelaide offline (fist timer) but it seems I’m always struggling to qualify.

This tastings theme now seems to be: Langtons x Vintage XXX6 x Magnum or 2 bottles

Hmmm, doesn’t look good for me again...

Could have done Langtons Exceptional (Giaconda 02/11 & Cullen 04) but not in combination with the two other criteria.

From vintage 2006 I could offer (but only single bottles): Craggy Range Le Sol, De Bortoli Yarra Valley Reserve Syrah, Dutschke Single Barrel Shiraz, Kalleske Johan George Shiraz, Standish Shiraz, Yalumba Signature.

I do have a Dutschke Oscar Semmler Shiraz 2006 Magnum…
…and I think I have two 500 ml bottles of Chateau de Suronde Quarts de Chaume 1996 (sweet Loire wine) if somebody is interested in this.

Otherwise I wait for the ‘Bring out your dead’ tasting as I have a few oldies that may or may not be dead.

Cheers,
Mario

Hi Guys,

Should be in for this one.

Is the theme still for two standard bottles of the same wine of a magnum?

1 bottle will be fine. I only offered the Magnum because that is all I have.

Theme: A bottle from Langtons rankings with a xxx6 vintage.

Cool, thanks Phill.

Unfortunately my cellar does not really date back to 1996 (although I could see what Mark has in his current auction).

Also do we need a white? If so I have a '06 Tyrrell's Vat 1 (wish I had a '96). Alternatively I could bring a red of some sorts from 2006 (possibly Dead Arm, Kay's Block 6, Mt Edelstone or YY Dry Red #1).

Cheers,
Tony

Getting towards a week out from this, I guess we better start confirming who is going and what they are possibly taking - at this stage I think numbers are low enough we can get away with 1 bottle per person that meets the Langtons/ending in a six brief:

crusty2: 1996 Charles Melton Nine Popes magnum
n4sir+1: 1996 Mt Langi Ghiran Shiraz magnum + ???
Waiters Friend: 2006 Cullen Diana Madeleine
George Krashos: 1996 Wendouree Cab Malbec or Penfolds Bin 389 or 2006 Charles Melton Nine Popes
Scotty Vino: 2006 Katnook Estate Cab Sav
phillisc: 1996 Craiglee Shiraz
Mark Jappe (+Gail ?):
Tucker Wine Studios: 2006 Yalumba Signature or Kalleske Johann Georg
tonsta: 2006 Tyrrell's Vat 1 or Dead Arm or Kay's Block 6 or Mt Edelstone or YY Dry Red #1

Cheers,
Ian

Ian, I am in.
have a small but quality spread of 86's, leaning towards 96 perhaps with either Craiglee Shiraz, Mount Mary Quintet or perhaps something from Wendouree.
Cheers

The 96 Craiglee shiraz died for a few years ( I quaffed the majority of the case as if a cotes du rhone ) but my last few bottles were wonderful 5 years ago. Drinking like the best classic styles of St Josephs.

We look a little short on whites. Given the lack of bubbles what would people say to a partially off theme champagne ending in a 6 plus a langtons wine ending in a 6 if Gail can make it? 2006 polish hill if I can find one? Will have to review my list and get back with non champers options.
I would also vote for george to be allowed to bring the slightly off theme svs.

Still ok for Friday 5th August.
Had another look at Langtons Classification and realized that I have two bottles that match the theme:
2006 Yalumba Signature
2006 Kalleske Johan George Shiraz (didn't know that this made the classification).
Maybe I bring both so I have a reserve if there's a problem with one bottle.
Better should have a look in the wine fridge to confirm that I really have these wines.
Cheers, Mario

Quick update - John Mack has now said he will join us, and is checking what he has to bring (most likely something something non-SA from 1996, Tyrrell's Vat 1, Yarra Yarra or Yarra Yering Wine 1, 2 or Pinot, Dalwhinnie Shiraz or Cab, Seppelt Great Western Shiraz).

crusty2: 1996 Charles Melton Nine Popes magnum
n4sir+1-4: 1996 Mt Langi Ghiran Shiraz magnum + ???

George Krashos: 1996 Wendouree Cab Malbec or Penfolds Bin 389 or 2006 Charles Melton Nine Popes

After my regular T-Chow Lunch group and another email it looks like I could have another +2-4 coming from my crowd. Will keep you posted :D

Thinking of a 1986 Para Liqueur Port as a back up, maybe also a 1996 Coriole Chenin Blanc as an off theme "token white" to begin.

After the AFWAC annual dinner last night it looks like I have another one coming, possibly bringing a 96 Tyrrell's Vat 1.

Just had a look at what I had handy and I am thinking of changing tack - I did not twig until yesterday that d'Arenberg's Coppermine Road was on the Langtons list at the excellent level, and think it may make for a good comparison to the 2006 Katnook Estate and 2006 Cullen and a better option than the 1996 Langi Shiraz. It might be less bretty too! :P

crusty2: 1996 Charles Melton Nine Popes magnum
n4sir+1-5: 2006 d'Arenberg Coppermine Road Cabernet Sauvignon magnum + ???
Waiters Friend: 2006 Cullen Diana Madeleine or an old Wendouree
