Can't believe I overlooked these ! Make me cry. Tell me how little you paid! A very underrated wine in my experience and I've been adding the modern vintages to my cellar on occasion.
At ABaC in Barcelona ( 2 Michelin starred restaurant and accommodation) a few years ago, we had the sommelier present a mini-vertical back to 1978. The 1983 was excellent from memory and we visited the vineyard the next day for a tour and private tasting again of Mas La Plana.

There is another one going under the hammer in the current auction if you are interested. Although the starting bid has gone up $10. Good to see Mark Wickman getting the best for his sellers.
I bidded $100 but the auction closed. Thought I had 15s left!
I hope it wasn't yours! Drink it. Beautiful wine.
Picked up the 93 Stonewell which I was happy with.
"Barolo is Barolo, you can't describe it, just as you can't describe Picasso"
Hey Ozzie I'm glad you didn't flick your 83's - I was worried you guys didn't realise the gems you'd picked up and the wines just didn't deserve that! Please let me know how they go btw.
I got some gladstones too we probably competed !!

I checked it out last night after it closed and looked at the bidding history. Was interesting to see how it went gangbusters on the last day. I'm glad I got mine for around the $50 mark last auction.
never underestimate the predictability of stupidity

Went to the Witches Falls Cellar Door on Mt Tambourine yesterday and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the wines. I thought it was a gee up that Halliday gave the winery 5 red stars, but while it is maybe not that good, it certainly was worth the trip up from the Gold Coast. I very much enjoyed the wines. So I bought- 6 x 2014 Witches Falls Wild Ferment Garnacha
Cheers Ian
If you had to choose between drinking great wine or winning Lotto, which would you choose - Red or White?

Thought I'd report back to the forum on my 2 Torres purchases. Unfortunately, both bottles were duds. The first bottle with the lower fill level was literally vinegar. First time I've ever tasted a wine that actually turned to vinegar. The second bottle with high fill level was very badly oxidised and also undrinkable. Let the hunt continue...
