Have you tried?

Nah, I normally buy it every year so I thought I would keep the series going ... any view on it?

I've got 10's and 12's.I skipped the 2011. Didn't really think it was up to par for the money.
I was just keen to know how the 13 has fared.

Where'd you get the Jack Mann? I'm trying to source some myself at a reasonable price - this normally sells out pretty quickly!

Seems to be that time of year again - I'm not supposed to buy any more wine, but I fell off the wagon and bought....

6 x 2013 Mount Mary Quintet
6 x 2013 Mount Mary Pinot Noir
3 x 2013 Jasper HIll Emily's Paddock

Waiting for the Giaconda En Primeur release on 15 April - their website seems to indicate no Pinot this year!

Well done. I picked up the other two in that auction. Looking forward to seeing how good it is. Cellar tracker has rated it pretty well but on limited numbers.

Can't believe I overlooked these ! Make me cry. Tell me how little you paid! A very underrated wine in my experience and I've been adding the modern vintages to my cellar on occasion.

At ABaC in Barcelona ( 2 Michelin starred restaurant and accommodation) a few years ago, we had the sommelier present a mini-vertical back to 1978. The 1983 was excellent from memory and we visited the vineyard the next day for a tour and private tasting again of Mas La Plana.

There is another one going under the hammer in the current auction if you are interested. Although the starting bid has gone up $10. Good to see Mark Wickman getting the best for his sellers. ;)

I bidded $100 but the auction closed. Thought I had 15s left!

I hope it wasn't yours! Drink it. Beautiful wine.

Picked up the 93 Stonewell which I was happy with.

You almost got it, Jamie. My proxy bid was lower than yours.

Bought 3 x 2010 Houghton Gladstones too for a good price.

Missed out on the 1985 Prunotto Barbaresco which went for far too much IMHO for a bottle with clear signs of weeping.

Hey Ozzie I'm glad you didn't flick your 83's - I was worried you guys didn't realise the gems you'd picked up and the wines just didn't deserve that! Please let me know how they go btw.

I got some gladstones too we probably competed !!

I checked it out last night after it closed and looked at the bidding history. Was interesting to see how it went gangbusters on the last day. I'm glad I got mine for around the $50 mark last auction.

It's not what it was, but that offer was a bit of a no-brainer - £171 for the dozen

3 x 2011 Houghton Gladstones Shiraz
3 x 2011 Houghton Thomas Yule Shiraz
3 x 2006 Arras Blanc de Blanc

Went to the Witches Falls Cellar Door on Mt Tambourine yesterday and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the wines. I thought it was a gee up that Halliday gave the winery 5 red stars, but while it is maybe not that good, it certainly was worth the trip up from the Gold Coast. I very much enjoyed the wines. So I bought-
6 x 2014 Witches Falls Wild Ferment Garnacha

Cheers

I wish I didn't present all that info on the mas la plana as it would have gone second time around for bugger all!

Rethinking a wine investment strategy in Australia frankly. Such a small, niche market for even the best foreign wine !

I hate how there isn't option for a mixed 6 of 750's or mixed dozen of the 375's. So I did not buy this year.

Chardonnay is screw cap but I don't think the Cabernet is yet.

Thought I'd report back to the forum on my 2 Torres purchases. Unfortunately, both bottles were duds. The first bottle with the lower fill level was literally vinegar. First time I've ever tasted a wine that actually turned to vinegar. The second bottle with high fill level was very badly oxidised and also undrinkable. Let the hunt continue...

My two had some bottle variation. The second far better than the first. I put a note in the drinking thread if you're interested.
