TN: 2002 Kangarilla Rd. Zinfandel, Fleurieu
TN: 2002 Kangarilla Rd. Zinfandel, Fleurieu
A light crimson color with a lovely perfumed nose of liqueur cherry, rasberry, rosehip and some tantalising hints of sage. A seductively silky palate of liqueur cherry, rasberry and underlying fruitcake flavours with long, fine tannins, plenty of length and a good hit of alcohol on the finish.
This went very well with roast pork.

I thought I should let you know that if this is the $35 / Reserve Zinfandel, I absolutely hated it. Althought the person I was tasting it with quite enjoyed it, my comments on the wine were: "this wine is totally unenjoyable, on the palate at least. The nose was big, ripe and interesting but the palate was simply too alcoholic to be enjoyable. The alcohol thinned out the wine and, in fact, burnt my palate. Tasted blind, at least I was able to pick the variety given the red berry/jam flavour of the wine. I would not buy this wine for $5, let alone $35, and despite sensing that it was made with quality fruit, have no hesitation in rating the wine as "rubbish". Each to their own."
Kind regards,
Adair

Why not really tell us what you think about this wine.
Now for the big question, where does "Rubbish" fit on the Torb Scale Above or below Cats Piss
As people use forums such as this to make purchasing decisions, if I have an opinion that is quite different from another, I would think it helpful to others, as long as my opinion is made constructively and not with criticism.Anonymous wrote:Adair: why did you just think that you should let Mark know that?

different wine fluffy. This is the Fleurieu wine. You had the McLaren vale one (and considerably more expensive). Confusing. Kangarilla should name them better i.e. Fred and Barney or something.
Wickman had the 02 Kangarilla Road Barney Zin.

FWIW I think the Fleurieu (Barney) is the better drinking wine.

Ah, the wine Mark Wickman had was the one less than 16% alcohol, and much cheaper. From memory, this one is about 13.5% alcohol. This sounds much better already.
Thanks Gary for the clarity,
Adair

Adair,
As Gary has already mentioned it was the cheaper one. I think I picked up a dozen on special for $13.99 a bottle. Its a great hit with the mother in law & I only wish I had not drunk most of them in the first 6 months

I agree 100% Adair - If a tasting note greatly conflicts with somebodys own personal experience it should be brought to the other forum members attention, not to embarass the poster of course, but to add to our shared knowledge.
Although, for some people that are new and just starting to gain confidence in posting tasting notes it may be detrimental and put them off writing any more notes.
Cheers

Too late. God knows how many have been sent screaming with Ric reference to cats piss! These RBs, just no class at all.
