2005 Chateau Reynella Basket Pressed Shiraz (cleanskin), McLaren Vale (cork): Still an impressive, brooding, intimidating dark to inky crimson with a little purple. Pretty much unchanged from nearly seven years ago, inky and jubey, blackberry, plum and liquorice, a little menthol, dried herbs, soy and lifted, spicy/sweet oak well in the distance. The palate’s medium to full-weight and very dry, with tart/tarry/plummy fruit and a touch of smoky bacon/black liquorice, finishing with gum sapping tannins and some espresso and menthol. An absolute bargain when it was dumped, this should easily last another decade or two.
Cheers,
Ian

Got a cleanskin 2007 Chateau Reynella Botrytis Sémillon. Nice, but well developed. Not bad for $5!

I have a bottle of the "proper@ wine tucked away. Having recently checked JO, there's no need to hurry & open it.

Ps. Looking back at those photos, apart from the lack of seepage that is one seriously scary/dodgy looking cork.
That said, it somehow managed to do the job this time, I hope the rest do too.
