Mike, I've tasted it twice. One time I even preferred it to Winston Churchill. In fact, it's up there with many top cuvees IMHO.

I'd like to know what you think of the '13 Lake Breeze. It's my favourite 'go to' cheapie red. I've not tried the 2013 but every previous year seems to be great.
Slightly off topic but how long would one expect the Bernoota to last? I've got some 2008/2009's - they'll be safe for a while yet?

JO thinks the 2008's window is from 2016-2020. The 2009 however he reckons is a 2011-2014+. So I'd drink those 2009's over the next year and then when finished hit the 2008's over the next 4 years.
never underestimate the predictability of stupidity
Re: October 2015 Purchases
JO is ultra conservative with drinking windows. I'd just open bottles periodically and drink up at the first signs of development depending on your taste.

I've seen this (2009 vintage) on wine-searcher for $50 a bottle in the UK

Bigtinnie, the 2012 Bernoota was a cracker and a couple of places were pricing it at around $17pb.
The 2013, which I had a bottle the other day, plus a real good look at the Great Australia Red Tasting (cab shiraz blends) last month in Adelaide with Matthew Jukes, along side of the 2012 is a very impressive wine.
Picked up a case, if I can describe it, a lovely slippery LC blend, so much fruit, so balanced...and a bargain.
Cheers
Craig
PS... both the 2012 and 2013 won the trophy for best sub $25 blend.
Tomorrow will be a good day

I think you were the one that steered me toward Lake Breeze a few years ago on these boards. I'll take the opportunity to say thanks.
I've explored many cab/shiraz wines because of this and they continue to be my favourite red - more so than straight cab or straight shiraz. If find they round each other out perfectly.
I love Metala White Label as a cheapie and Yalumba Signature as a 'treat' - in fact the Sig would be my all time favourite wine.
Olivers Taranga make a good shiraz cab blend too.
Can you point me toward any other gems?

Busy checking out the new local - IGA liquor in Mount Martha village. Usual suspects abound, but there's a nice range of cleanskins at reasonable prices for a very nice drop (really loving the 2008 Tassie Pinot).

One of my favourite labels, Funnily enough, I haven't been on here for a bit (stupid work), but I opened the Bernoota last night and am having the rest now. Your oak/vanilla tolerance has to be high, but the fruit is actually very good. The acid is quite juicy. That said, i don't think longevity is the primary feature of these wines. I have had them at 5-6 years of age and they have been fine, but I probably wouldn't push it much more than that,
Cheers

Nice one, Mike, great wine.
Thanks ! I often buy Champers after having tasted them first... this was an exception. A few people I know speak highly of this release, and the other BdBs I've had from 2008 have the makings of superb wines down the track.
FWIW it made Halliday's Top 100 wines for 2015. Only 2002 Francois Billcart (superb wine!) and DP rose 2004 which I haven't tried. Both scored just one point more than PR BdB.
"Simply demands its inclusion, notwithstanding my tasting note finishing 'just a baby'. Bright green-straw hue, it has exquisite freshness and balance, the bouquet filled by scents of white flowers, the palate with pink grapefruit in a glittering necklace of acidity. Will fill you with joy tonight, wonderment five years hence. I’ve bought my share."
