If I restrict to aussie wine ... and keeping it affordable so no special bins etc

1. Tyrell's Semillons - VAT 1, Belford, HVD etc

DISTANCE

2. Rockford BP Shiraz
3. Howard Park Abercombie Cabernet and equivalents
4. Standish Shiraz (Standish, Relic etc)
5. Wynns JR

What is crazy is I drink lots of Riesling, but would not put one wine as a favourite as so much is so good that it is hard to really shine (Crawford River, Seppelt Drumborg, Grosset, Tim Adams, Steingarten, Pike's The Merle the list just goes on).

The cyclone turned my little 10 acre farmlet into a war zone a bit like Hiroshima. Hundreds of trees down, shed flattened, Bali hut destroyed and swimming pool full of leaf litter. Despite this the house is intact and the wine cold room is undisturbed. I haven't opened it or the Kitchener as I figure the wine in the big one will take about a month to come to room temp and the kitchener a few more days yet. Hoping to get electricity back on today.

Good call. I basically just picked one of my more regularly drunk rieslings because I felt it and to be represented, since it would probably be in my top 3 most drunk varietals.

As the OP states, this is more about my favourite wines rather than the best wines. These are ones I drink on a regular basis and in no particular order.

Greenock Creek Cornerstone Grenache
Gomersal Shiraz
Rockford Moppa Springs
Noon Eclipse
Rockford Rifle Range

I like all of these with a bit of age on them and I have bought plenty of them all over the years.

As the OP states, this is more about my favourite wines rather than the best wines. These are ones I drink on a regular basis and in no particular order.

Greenock Creek Cornerstone Grenache
Gomersal Shiraz
Rockford Moppa Springs
Noon Eclipse
Rockford Rifle Range

I like all of these with a bit of age on them and I have bought plenty of them all over the years.

good call Ian, I reckon the Cornerstone Grenache is their best wine, by quite a distance!!!

I am not so sure , by a stroke of good luck was given a bottle of 2012 7 Acre and a 2013 Cornerstone.
The Cornerstone had that lovely smoky peaty type nose, followed by a very likable fruit structure with a little heat and and some dusty tannins...carries the 15.5% easily.
The 7 acre had a very pleasant nose of varietal berry, good balance between fruit and oak, but in the mouth was a much better wine, rich plush silky and slippery, aftertaste went on for ages. Glad I have 6 of these and a magnum to boot.

In terms of quality agree with both Ian and Felix, the grenache is a good wine, but for me the 7 acre has the edge.

Tastes have changed so much over the years, and (some) old favorites have tripled in price... But my favorite wines to drink are:

Penfolds Bin 389 and 707 - With some age on both of these they can be amazing wines. Sadly, 707 is way above what i'll pay for Aussie Cab.
Wendouree Malbec - When it's good... My gosh I can drink this forever. Crazy good
Pol Roger Champagne - Be the NV or any in between to the top, Pol is my "go to" Champagne.
Cape Mentelle Chardonnay - Great value and age worthy. Love it

Ian, just an update, I now think letting the Cornerstone have a bit of air, its line ball with the 7 acre. I will have to get some...even the missus said "now that's a wine!"
