Trading and swaps

Post by Sipper »

Hi all,

I have been fortunate to be able to buy a number of different wines to add to my cellar. Some of which I have bought in multiple on the secondary wine market through auction.

I have a number of bottles of wine that are ready or getting ready to drink that I will not get around to drinking, or, don't enjoy based on opening a couple and working out they aren't my style / taste.

Are people willing to trade bottles if I were to put up wines on the forum or is this not the done thing. I would much rather people enjoy wine rather than it sit my cellar and never be opened. Quantities are too small to put back onto the market and i am conveniently located in Melbourne. People could PM if they wish. I would of course weight the trade in favour of the offerer as I acknowledge I am the one with the stock that i wish to move on.

Thoughts?

Chris

I think because this is an actual retailers forum it is probably not something that will happen..

There are other wine forums that you can do this on though...

you can't trade in alcohol unless you have a liquor license.

However, if you just put it out there that you intend to send a list of wine off to auction, who knows what other members will do offline?

As an addendum, please note that I do not intend to undermine the businesses or retailers involved with this site, nor detract from any retail sales by offering wine that is readily available on the retail market. I do not intend to "trade" other than swap by mutual agreement in an offline discussion if necessary.

The original post was more of a question and a bit of fun rather than a sales pitch. Apologies if anyone has taken offence or this is the "wrong" thing to be posting on this forum.

Yeah..I wasn't suggesting that...

I was just saying that on this forum, that type of thread/section probably won't exist..but there are others out there where they already exist...

Hang on... there are people out there who don't open every bottle in sight (and quite a few not in sight)?!
