Just got a few more today:
6x Shingleback D Block Reserve Shiraz 2009
Turkey Flat Barossa Shiraz 2011
Seppelt Mt Ida 2004
Devils Corner Mt Amos Pinot 2012
2 x Chapel Hill McLaren Vale Shiraz 2008
Clarendon Hills Astralis 2006 (for Ticklenow)
All reduced to half price at the local DM.
Wish I had more bucks - they had Arras Rose sparkling for $50 and some wonderful 18 year old single
malts
Couldn't help a return visit to grab a 2009 Wynns Michael and a magnum of Lanson Black Label, both at half price ($70/$60) or thereabouts.

Naoussa Boutari 2009x 6

Naoussa grand reserve boutari x 2

Hi Michael, and welcome to the forum. Naoussa Boutari?? Thats a new one for me... Google tells me:

"Boutari Naoussa was the first bottled wine available in Greece (1879) and is the benchmark among Greece’s premium red wines. It has won many awards over the last 50 years both in Greece and internationally. It is also the #1 selling premium red wine from Greece worldwide."

Fascinating... have you had it before?

Hi Sam,
That was a fast reply :D
My sister lives in Greece. I had a chance to try few different greek wine while I was there. Naoussa Boutari was one of them. I think it is very sharp price for 2009. It sells for about 8 euro in Greece. Xinomavro grape suppose to be very ancient grape. Quite similar to Nebbiolo. It is good to drink for those who cannot quite pay for barolo. We tried grand reserve side by side, but standard cheaper Naoussa was the favorite one. Grand reserve seemed to be lacking fruit and stuffing. Sells for 13 dollar at dans, I think there is nothing to lose. It needs alittle bit of time to open up. This goes well with all sort of food. Should be good to drink for next 3 years. Dont expect Barolo then I think you will enjoy them too :D

As a long term malt lover, specifically an Islayphile, would be happy to hear what you got. I too have stayed away from any purchases, awaiting the Wendouree mailer and saving my pennies.

Did you try before buying Craig?

Please let us know what you think of the current vintage of this venerable label.' Can't say 30 years, but it has been a favourite for 20!

I don't think I tried a 2011, but I put away six of the 2010 which was a ripsnorter (oenological term) and true to form.

Cheers

Michael, had a bottle last night.
All there loads of fruit, good structure, and really good mouth feel. May get another 12.
The ladies in the room thought it was most "moreish".
Picked it up for $12...think its worth the punt and no, did not try before purchase.

You are right, the 2010 is a very smart wine.

Cheers
Craig.

Wine is considered a work of art, but, unlike a painting, wine exists for that brief instant in time after the cork gets pulled, it's a transient moment but it can leave an indelible impression
