I can guess how much you paid for it - and at that price its a fantastic buy. I'd suggest you drink them in the next few years, as my experience with the Krug halves is they mature very quickly (even more than other producers).

Don't touch the Folded Blue for a few years unless you like your reds REALLY primary Matt. That, or give it a big decant. It's a lovely wine. Delicious and with beautiful blue fruit. Who'd have though?!!?

Cheers, Travis.

From auction. Sad to see another good winery go by the wayside ie Olssens

2 x ANNVERS Reserve Adelaide Hills McLaren Vale Langhorne Creek Shiraz 2002
3 x OLSSENS OF WATERVALE Bass Hill Vineyard MMS Clare Valley Mataro Malbec Shiraz 2005
18 x bottles OLSSENS OF WATERVALE Second Six Clare Valley Cabernet Franc Blend 2006
12 x bottles TYRRELLS Rufus Stone McLaren Vale Cabernet Sauvignon Malbec 2009
12 x OLSSENS OF WATERVALE Six Cabernet Blend 2005
2 x MAJELLA Connawarra Cabernet 2005

Now to get them into the cellar without SWMBO finding out. It's easier to seek forgiveness after the fact rather than approval before.

A fair effort. But I thought your limit was 75 bottles?

Anyway, what was your:
Best Champagne of the day?
Best bargain?
Any surpirses, good or bad?
What are we drinking when you come to visit next? :)

I assume the 2005 Taittinger is for early consumption than other vintages?
Cheers

The Taittinger was the best 2005 Ive tried so far. Excellent wine that will see out 2030 with ease. The best bargain was the Saves. Right up with the 2002 for the best ever from that house. Best surprises were Echansons - much better than previous vintages, and the fact the Bara Rose was so good (so was the Pol rose 2006) as i tend not to like theirs. They told me the 2002 Comtesse sold out in 3 days.....

As for what we drink..... I have a nice Queen Adelaide sparkling that you'll enjoy.....

My first purchases for the cellar this month:
1 x 2010 Hentley Farm Clos Otto
1 x 2010 (1.5l) Hentley Farm The Beast
1 x 2011 Hentley Farm The Creation
6 x 2010 Wynns BL Shiraz
6 x 2010 Wynns BL Cab

Thought I'd add to my start at the end of the month too...
6 x 2013 Petaluma Riesling
6 x 2008 Pewsey Vale The Contours
3 x 2011 Chapel Hill Shiraz
2 x 2006 St Henri

Really want to start adding some Pinot early in my collecting adventure, so any help on relatively good VFM Pinots to lay down would be much appreciated!

Probably worth a post of its own but 2012 throughout SE Australia is looking good. Try:
Hoddles Creek 1er
Seppelts Drumborg
Hillcrest (if it isn't already sold out)
Kooyong Estate (not yet released)
Etc etc
