I've put my vote in for yes, but cannot believe that no is winning.

At the top end (ie Hardys Arras) the gap appears to be closing, but if you include the lot it's a lot less clear. Probably no.

Just wanted say Jamie that I love the new avatar - I thought the old one was great, but this one tops it!

I reckon those people say no have never tasted a good bottle of French champagne. If you compare Moet to the Australian then it's pretty close and I serious believe that's what most people compare the Australian to the French with.

I am Stuned the no have it at the bottom and middle ranges we get flogged pillar to post on producing a consistant sparkling. At the top end things changing very slowly with the hardy's range and a few others but we still don't get there with the single vineyard stuff like Salon and Clos du Grossis etc. I think we need a few decades more pratices to catch up

Anyone who thinks Oz sparkling superior to french champagne, just hasn't tried enough. Oz versions, even the arras & Pirie lack finesse, the acidity and the delicate fineness of structure found in the best.

I find it funny that so many people make slurs about moet, but it always always does very well in trade blind tastings.

This question is absolutely stupid. There is deadset, totally, absolutely and enormously a massive difference between French Champagne and Australian sparkling wine... unless of course you have little idea about wine!

Sorry to be blunt but the fact so many Australians have answered "no" explains many of society's outcomes.

I am a big fan of Moet (especially the NV) and have no problem with people slurring it. More for me to drink :lol:
