Henschke Sydney Offline
Henschke Sydney Offline
Following an epiphany from TiggerK it seems that an offline with a Henschke theme would be a great idea.
To get things started, how does Thursday 23rd May sound? If not, 30th May perhaps. Suggestions as to venue but I would throw in Rocket in Chatswood for its proximity to the train and it's quality food. Thoughts?
I will bring a Mt Edelstone 2006 or 1999 depending on who else brings what.
Who wants to come?
Cheers,
David M.

Re: Henschke Sydney Offline
Count me in. I’m available on both dates - 23rd or 30th.
Rocket Chatswood is really good and we always seem to get excellent service there. If there is a preference for a venue in the city, we could go to Bistro Fax again or try Bistrode CBD.
I can get the 2005 Tappa Pass.

Sounds like a great theme. Shame I'm not in town. That said, I'm looking forward to reading the notes.

Please give warning when you are. I'm sure we can build a champagne based offline to suit. I've got a Selosse or Cd Goisses that would accommodate.

Would be interested in this, but at this stage, can't confirm sorry.
I really enjoyed Bistrode CBD, but it is on the noisier side...
Hmmm, looking at the cellar, I have hardly any Henschke though.

Re: Henschke Sydney Offline
Count me in, either date is OK. But as per the Rockford event my small cellar only has Mt Edelstone 2006 left to offer!! Sorry David! Is that OK for you to bring the 99?
Big fan of Rocket Chatswood.... happy days. Will bring a Julius 2012 to start too.

Re: Henschke Sydney Offline
Ok, let's make the venue Rocket in Chatswood. Also, as no one has objected to the dates so far, can we run with Thursday 23rd May.

Have a great night crew!
Lucky I'm not there to jinx the cork gods, they're particularly cranky when I drink Henschke for some cruel reason.

1990 HOG is an appropriate price of admission!

I am not sure I can quite stretch to that! What about a 1990 Mt Edelstone - is anyone else planning to bring one of those?
I might consider a less "iconic" vintage HoG but I am nervous about dropping that much money on something from auction!

Of course I was joking....
A 1990 Mt Ed will take you to the top of the class! But bring what ever works for you.

Re: Henschke Sydney Offline
I am up for this as mentioned by Hacker above (calling me Ross H)
My first post for a very long time!
Will have to have a close look at what I have, but don't have much Henschke in the cellar. But there is something.......(NOT HoG!)
Cheers

Re: Henschke Sydney Offline
I might be up for this one although I won't be able to confirm until much closer to the date and it would be on the condition we finish prior the the last train back to the city. Or I'll need to do a runner to the train. North snore is not ideal for me but if it's close to the train, I'll try to cope.
I have a six pack of Mt Edelstones and Cyrils I've been thinking need some attention for a while now. So happy to show up with a 96 Cyril if you're still taking passengers.

96 was not suitable so it'll need to be a 2001 Edelstone instead..

Not Parker but Lisa Perrotti-Brown for TWA. A great benchmark and a unique tasting with vintages ranging from 1958-2008. The 2005 followed by the 2002 & 1965 had the highest scores with 99pts & 98pts respectively.wizlb wrote:FYI
Robert Parker has reviewed Henschke Shiraz Hill of Grace from 1973 and this wine has shown over the years to be an absolute power-house...which year do you have in your cellar..... Henschke Shiraz Hill of Grace from 2001 to 2008 with the lowers score a 93 to a high of 98...

I was surprised just how low the 1998 HOG rated in Lisa's article...

I have now secured a 1990 Mt Edelstone from auction... fingers crossed it is in good shape! I also bought a 1991 with provenance so I will assess when I receive them which looks the best bet...
