08 Rieslings

Word is there have been some crackers and some duds. Depends whether grapes were picked before or after the heat wave as up to then growing conditions were ideal for riesling. Apparently this is first year for long time two Leo Buring Leonays have been made, one from Eden Valley and one from Clare, ...

Peter Lehmann Shiraz can often be found discounted under 15 bucks I'm always on the lookout for that. Also agree with other writers' mention of Footbolt though find it hard to get under 15 these days. Have also enjoyed some vintages of Houghton, and Tahbilk is good value too.

Prefer to have varieties/wine types grouped together.eg if I want a Shiraz,I want to just look in the Shiraz aisle.Which is why I find Dan Murphy's layout of putting wines under same label together, frustrating and time consuming when looking for a particular type of wine. Means you have to walk up a...

Am I mistaken in this but is the bloke who says there is no imminent takeover of his company also the same bloke who said that Fosters would be making no more major acquisitions, a few months before the Southcorp plunder?

Peter Lehmann 2003 Shiraz Can't believe only paid $12 for this at my local bottle shop.Thought oak was a bit over the top when first opened and a bit young still.Fruit started to show through with second glass and tannnins softened somewhat so would probably benefit from decanting first.Drinking be...

Ever heard of tobacco flavoured oak.Neither had I but believe me it exists,Just add it during ferment.Guess it cuts down on time in barels so the wine can be released earlier.

Heard from the inside that yes 03 was a difficult vintage but all will be redeemed with the release of the 04 wines.Winemakers seemed pretty confident it will go down as well as 90,96 vintages.

Penfolds

I think you will find that this is simply a reflection of the increasing number of plantings that come on stream every year.Don't know if Robe fruit has made it into Grange but if it has, it would only have been because it would have been deemed to be good enough. Anyone that has looked at the volum...
