Re: How can a wine 'age' under a screwcap?

The reason for the change over to screwcaps was due to the discovery that wine develops anaerobically (without air) and therefore the theory of the cork allowing air into the wine was defunct. Check out the FAQ we have placed up on our web because we bottle exclusively under stelvin: m Cheers Scott...

1970 Orlando Steingarten Riesling

Had this at the famous/infamous/notorious Apex Bakery Luncheon Club in Tanunda. This was a real Steingarten as opposed to the current multi vineyard blend. The fill level was ok but the cork was crumbly, slimy and black. This did not look good for a drinkable wine. After the cork was extracted in pi...

Cellar Doors

What do folks see important for cellar doors to have and what makes a good cellar door? Also are there things in some cellar doors that do not make for a good experience.

Can't help but wonder how it'd blend with pinot noir in a still table wine. Mountain X shiraz pinot seems to have been fairly well-received but haven't tried it at the price. Cheers daz Neither of those blends sound like marriages made in heaven. Indeed I have never come across a successful blend w...

Wouldnt it be good for the long term viability of the industry that this was a common occurrence. Im not knocking trying to get a bargain (I do that too).

Re: Adelaide Offline with griff 2/1/10 at the Alehouse: BOOKINGS

So... I thought I'd replied to this thread with what I'm taking. I guess I hadn't! Having raided both my cellar and the cellar of a certain wine shop I've got a 96 Bin 389 in the decanter and if that's no good I've an 04 Tappanappa Whalebone cabernet/shiraz as backup. Regarding whites... I've got a...

Re: Why Wine Ratings are Badly Flawed

I deplore the 100 point system and it saddens me greatly that we all in this country have come to rely upon it so much. It beggars belief that we can attempt to be so exact with something so subjective, so passionate, as good wine. I'm sure many people use a sliding scale with the basic formula of ...

There's a huge (and I mean HUGE) drop down poster in Sydney's Myer down to the food court advertising the new Jacob's Creek Moscato. Like Going Back 40 Years

We were serving one of red wines at Barossa Under the Stars last night. 9,000 people to see John Farnham. Sold quite a few dozen. There was a great demand for roses, sweet whites and moscatoes mainly from young women. It was like going back 40 years in taste. I guess for moscato now read Barossa Pea...
