Premox is 95 onwards or so. A 90 Lafon wouldn't be too shabby.

Re: Advice please on a disappointment.

Well if you wanted to you would run a similar approach with multiple data points - accelerated stability testing is standard practice in the pharmaceutical industry. Should be run over the expected shelf life so Ian's approach has a time period suitable for cellaring. Here is a handy primer: m cheer...

Re: Grant Burge Meshach

I've had it a number of times and equate it to Cullen DM. Looks great young and seems destined to get even better... but never actually does. Mine went to auction... and yes, lots of oak Yes Cullen DM has been a real disappointment, though at least I was buying it back in the £25 a bottle days and ...

I recommend a Rancilio Silvia coffee machine plus the best conical burr grinder you can afford. Total budget in your $1000-$1500 range. I also recommend you look at the Coffee Snobs forum... it's the Auswine equivalent for coffee. That's my gear. Silvia and Rocky. It sure takes a while to heat up i...

This.

But acid adjustment is often a result of high pH due to longer fruit hang time.

A corked 2012 Sons of Eden Remus tonight. The second bottle was glorious. Blueberries and anise. Plush, long palate and evolved in the glass. Excellent/Outstanding and certainly worth the thought to post.

Re: Right, what are we/you drinking now .. tonight

Every so often a wine comes along that pushes beyond (or below) your expectations and makes you want to talk about it. Tonight it was the Coates Langhorne Creek Touriga Nacional 2009 . A flamboyant nose. Decided to move to the Burgundy glasses. Musk sticks and that most elusive and sexy bouquet of v...

Re: Leeuwin Art Series Cabernet - Aussie Mouton?

Leeuwin is a little further South than the Wilyabrup nexus which produces some fine cabernets. A little cooler where it is sited. Always a little too austere for me but ages well if you like the style. However the 2004 was a breakthrough wine - warmer year and I suspect a change in approach. Haven't...

Great to see that an oldie punt played well in the lineup! Always risky bringing old wines and hats off to whomever (maybe?) that brought it. Shame that Brio doesn't byo anymore. I think with all the openings in the CBD we surely must be able to find an alternate.

Re: 2001 Bodegas Muga Rioja Gran Reserva Prado Enea

Hmmm...may have to broach mine sooner than planned. Was expecting this wine to last a couple of decades! If you mean 2021. It will see that without a worry. However I do like Rioja around the 15-20 year mark as a preference. If it was my colour description, the browning/bricking comment was probabl...

Went out for some Japanese last night with the gang from work and had my first try of Brown Brothers Zibibbo. Light, refreshing, moreish and good bang for your buck. I think that it is the first wine-step for a mate of mine who only drinks cider. The thin edge of the wine-wedge. Cheers, Travis. Gui...

With that price range in mind I would be plumping for Delamain Pale & Dry XO Cognac. Still family owned to boot. I would also compare to St Agnes XO Very Old Brandy at the other end of your price range. Old World v New; elegant and dry (although younger) v. robust and fruity (and older) cheers C...

Tried a home made sparkling Shiraz. Put a young oaky Shiraz in freezer for 4 hours. Then decanted into sodastream machine. Topped up with a dose of vintage port. Put in some CO2, but fizzed over and made a bit of a mess. Good flavour, but bead very subtle and lacked persistence. I think this recipe...
