Re: Screw caps

I am still amazed the debate rages about leaky corks being a requirement for wines to age. The French have been running testing on this for centuries on white wine and in Australia for over 100 years on reds. It is called sparkling wine. It is under pressure and nothing is getting in there unless th...

Re: Cork vs Screwcap - Any Recent Comparisons?

Ok let's get a bottle of wine with a bit of yeast left in it put a crown seal on it which will mean it is under pressure and mostly full of CO2 not O2 turn it upside down so the head space is not in contact with the seal and leave it for a few decades or more and see if it ages or not? Should put th...

About $20 a bottle. Treasury Estate wine brand from McLaren Vale, name has been around for a while but tend to be on the lower end of the spectrum. You sometimes see older bottles at auction but mostly for novelty value as they weren't generally made to age. Probably best known for their cheap spar...

Re: Langton's FIXED PRICE. Exchange

As a seller with Langtons, I have confirmed the following.... The exchange selling price is the sellers reserve. The buyer then pays 15% commission over that. When selling at auction, the maximum reserve price a seller can put on a wine is the low price of the selling price range estimate. For exam...

Re: Langton's Reserve & Estimate gone up during auction

Since the new regime took over, price estimates have pretty much been random numbers, not even vaguely representing what the wines had previously sold for. Not sure what is happening now with reserves but they used to auto-bid up to them.

Cadel +1sec on the flat stages and has 1:42 on Bert, couldn't have asked for more at this stage. His team don't have to beat themselves up chasing the breaks, they can sit back a watch for a couple of days.

I also suspect it has something to do with 'estate' grapes vs purchased grapes (Pirathon being the latter). Bingo, the Kalleske labeled wines are all estate grown. The Pirathon on a collection of a few local growers. Also uses a mix of different oak. It is great bang for you buck but a recent tasti...

Re: Rhine Castle info

Rhine Castle was a merchant label - that being said this was towards the end of the period when somewhere like Tyrrell's had only recently started bottling their stuff under there own label. An educated guess would suggest Langhorne Creek from 1969 would be a Pott's Bleasdale. Perhaps Bleasdale cou...

Hi All, A friend was given this bottle for a birthday gift and we were curious about the history of the wine and winery.
