In terms of style, it is more expressive in its youth, more lively and intense than the Wynns. It won't be as long lived though, the tannins are much finer and softer(not to mention less abundant)and I think it is a medium term cellaring prospect. This doesn't detract from it though, nor is it damni...

Hey Mate, When you get to the bottles with irrelevant names like "romanee" and "Chateau" something, don't take any notice of them, they're meaningless. Just pm me , let me know where you live and I'll come around and save you having to take them to the tip. I'm like to guy from Pulp Fiction, I just ...

Newton, Grant & Spencer were the designers. I'm not sure that they are still together as a team. Obviously, everyone has their own ideas on what constitutes good design, and the arguments on merit often imitate the level of disagreement we see in realtion to wine quality. Many designers like to ...

Steve, I'm on the judging panel for Golf Digest's Top 100 courses, and whilst I won't speak for any of the other judges, I know there was a general feeling that the changes to the green designs were extravagant and out of character. The course is in great condition, just superb really, but there's n...

Chris, The first Masters i played I remember thinking just how narrow the place was; there were some really intimidating tee shots and anything astray was in big trouble. It had its own character. What you see now though is a course made a lot shorter by technology, but at the same time easier by de...

Elvis, There was no wind all week, and they have made the course easier every year. All the tee-tree to the right of seven has been cut out, replaced with a bunker,so now the hardest tee shot in golf has been made pretty basic. A lot of the undergrowth has been taken out too, so the course just isn't ...

Steve, Still making my mind up about next year. I've had a lot of problems with my body in the last few years, 5 separate visits to the surgeon now. Hey Mike, Thanks for your support. I'd like to say it was tough this week but it was about as easy as i've played Huntingdale. No wind, soft greens, it all adds up to really low scores. I just didn't putt too good this week, signs of it getting better in patches but not really good enough to contend....

Murray,

I was thinking the same thing. From memory the components of this wine go back to the 1920's. It would seem that someone is taking advantage of some Seppelt generosity.

Pretty sure this is the 64 Special Tokay, a blend of a number of earlier vintages. Lincoln Scott was kind enough to serve this up to me at a tasting last year and it is superb. Quite rare and not released in commercial quantities, to my knowledge. If you are a fan of the style then you won't be disa...

Mike et al, Point taken on the 100 point scale. In reality, it is only(at best) a 20 point scale(80-100) given that it is rare to find anything listed outside of the 85-95 point range. What this ends up doing is placing an undue emphasis on the importance of a one hundredth incremental adjustment. I...

I've tried the wine on 5 separate occasions. The first, at the Seppelt roadshow, was a great wine. Full fruited, excellent intensity and unmistak...

A welcome to new member Elvis, recently addicted wine groupie and member of the obscure sub culture known as caddies. A professional caddy,no less! The way you immediately recognise a person as a caddy is by the fact that none of them have real names. You are not a real caddy ( Steve Williams notwit...

It's a good article,Brian. A well presented argument, based less on emotion than most. You should post the link on the Squires board and see the indignation it will arouse.
