Guys,
Many thanks. I wasn't sure about the geography but it will be Waite campus, and a trip on the bus from the city won't be too much to bear. Looks like YHA is the go.
All the best

Good Youth Hostels in Adelaide?
Sorry this is a bit off topic, but given the Adelaide contingent that posts here I thought it might be a good place to start. A young graduate winemaker from Sth Africa is spending a week at Adelaide Uni and the AWRI as a part of a scholarship initiative. She would like to stay at a youth or backpac...

Well, that begs the question, Sue - which NZ wineries make your top 5? Crikey! I don't think I could settle on just five - there would be a multitude of 4th equals if that was the case. There are many outstanding producers in New Zealand and lots of other factors will come into the decision - like ...

Andrew, I have to say that I'm not familiar with all of the wines, so I can only comment on the ones that I have tried. There are some really impressive wines there, I think SA is doing some great stuff with the white Bordeaux blend style, Cape Point in particular, and the Chards are also very inter...

Re: What should I not miss at the tri nations tasting
The awesome tri nations tasting is on in a week or so and I decided to have a peruse of the invited wines - Its a seriously fine lineup of wines, but, with several hundred on offer and only a few hours to taste, I don't want to miss out on some lesser known highlights. So of the list (Here: m ) any...

Barossa Show
I thought he made a couple of good points, in particular in relation to the remark he made about the Seppelt Fino...in some classes, the judge is on trial, not the wine. Other than that though, you can't expect shows to be perfect, and you're always going to get results that attract criticism ( or t...

As it seems that Ric is sleeping in this Sunday, I may as well post a few rambling about last nights’ wines here as I did not take any notes, opting to sit back and take in the food and company more. These wines were all tasted at a wine dinner (offline) and, no, I definitely did not drink a...

There are a lot of quality levels and ages, are you after the aged stuff for special occasions or a good everyday one? For everyday use the Mazzetti 4-leaf version at the chains is a very good balsamic and quite reasonably priced. Brian, Can that be found in Woolies and Coles? I've been wondering a...

Graeme, A great dinner...the last time I tried a 707 was the 94 (in 2003), and I felt similar emotions to you on the 93...plenty of time left, but where is it going? Yet I've heard others say that the 90 and 91 are brilliant wines, I'm looking forward to tasting one that fulfils the expectations tha...

I think this was more to do with it being a marginal climate for Cabernet - only getting it fully ripe about 3 or 4 years in 10. Which winemakers say Cab is coming back? I'm not sure it is at all (although it is still my favourite grape of all Australian reds). GW Well, rather than give away their m...

Actually scrap the above, I just realised I am thinking of the Drumborg Cabernet. Does anyone know if the Drumborg still exists in any guise, or if it is to be resurrected? No and No. They grafted over the cabernet. GW Which is quite interesting because obviously Cabernet was on the nose when this ...

Bill, It's a nightmare. The people who designed the original site( and who registered the domain) have gone out of business. The notification that the domain was up for renewal went to them, and not to me, so I had no idea that it was about to die. Now I'm trying to find them to authorise the domain...
