WA Winery Weekend Trip Options from Perth - Thoughts ?

All, Im going to Perth for the next couple of weeks and have a free weekend, so thought I might head south and visit a few wineries. I know in a weekend I wont be able to cover too much - say half a dozen wineries over the two days, including a drive down from Perth (maybe a Fri evening depart) and ...

Re: Rockford time of year again.......

PS, someone who knows - I can get a bottle of 1995 Rockford Cabernet Sauvignon for $80 at this store - no provenance though. Good deal? I would be leaning to "no" as well. Agree with comments - no provenance information and high price sees a no from me. Whilst Ive had some success with ol...

I was at Bests in Western Victoria and they had some "bin ends" of 83 Hermitage and 90s Pinot, 90s Cab something.

Its these gems that add to the cellar door experience,

Re: September is all about Riesling on the Auswine Forum

I had a Seppelt Drumborg 2005 last night - still tight with powdery chalk & acid, good underlying fruit. Tasted blind I would have guessed 1-2 years of age. It's my last one - as shame really as I'd like to see it about 5 more years of age.

Absolutely agree with Salthouse - http://www.salthouse.com.au/

Lovely food, pretty good wine list, private function room, not sure on BYO (they seem pretty knowledgeable so I'd certainly ask).

Re: Rhine Castle info

All my books are packed at the moment so I can't look up anything further but if you look up Johnie Walker in older Halliday and Len Evans you should be able to find out more as he along with HG Brown were very important in the Sydney wine scene during the 50s and 60s. A quick look through Evans' 1...

I prefer both the '98 and '99 to the '02 - the '99 for a longer term proposition due to structure.

The Frogmore Creek FGR Riesling 2009 is a cracking wine. Beautiful balance of sweetness and acidity, a little bit of spritz adding to the incredible freshness of the wine, plus it's only about 10% alcohol. A great wine to have lunch of fresh prawns and avacado on one of these unusually balmy winter...

Hi, Last night I Opened up a bottle of Lindermans Bin 7200 Hunter Shiraz 1986 and while doing a search for tasting notes and found this forum. It looks like it will be a great place for info and a wine chat, to which most people who love wine like to do David....... Welcome Dave, How was the wine ?...

Have a look at Link for some good history From my perspective: Season it first, otherwise you will be drinking toothpicks Once it has soaked the timber and settled down, then consider putting in some older material. Keep it quite full When I needed to top up I rang around a number of Rutherglen wine...

I've got a muscat barrell, that was given to me (empty) as a present about five years ago. Only after I was able to draw it down significantly (it took a lot of drinking ) was I able to...

Adelaide Offline on Fri 29 June ?

Hi all,

I'm visiting Adelaide in late June and was wondering if anyone was interested in hooking up to share some wine and a meal on the evening of Friday 29 June ?

Perhaps 707 would be interested in sharing a Sparkling Shiraz  ?

2002 Olssens of Watervale Riesling (screwcap): Waxy, citrus nose with just a hint of kerosene already; spicy palate with a good depth of lime/lemon fruit, a hint of kero too and a bit of talc to boot. This is developing very nicely, albeit a little quicker than I would have expected. Nice mouthfeel...
