Re: BYO Australia?

Yes, very annoying. If they are being very difficult, I normally ask to buy a bottle or few bottles of wines from their list and ask them to open mine instead. Normally they would offer for us to take their wines home, or they could keep if you don’t want them.

Re: Those who have storage at Kennards

Have a room at Kennards Waterloo as well, in an odd 180 cases room(they only have a few available instead of the standard 135-145 cases room) for only $280 a month.

Re: Feb 2010 What are you buying / have you bought?

I am down to drinking one day a week only with a lot of running/ training going on. it helps too i must say. drinking and discipline are not close friends I have to disagree big time, i drink wine/wines daily (maybe 1 alcohol free day per week). That take a lot of disciplines!! Just in case you thi...

Ok I realise this topic has been done to death, but Im going to use it to summarise my findings and hopefully those in the know can point out any mistakes Ive made. My requirements are a 150-200 capacity fridge. Its going in the living room of an apartment so it needs to look alright too. Ie glass ...

Re: What to do with a whole lot of so-so wine

Well, as some of you may recall, we had one of my value wine nights last week, and I've still got about 4 half bottles of so-so wine here that I'm not likely to drink. I wondered if anyone had any suggestions/recipes that we could use so that the wine doesn't go to waste! So far our thoughts are Sa...

Re: 2008 Monomeith Vineyard Pinot Noir-Norton Summit-Adelaid

Wild looking, almost feral young winemaker. Didn't think much of him initially but he turned out to be a master of Pinot Noir. Free run. Very pale colour. Varietal with amazing personality. Now to 10 years. Rich and wild wine. Looks wholesome and is delicious. Superb. Surprised the hell out of me. ...

Tasting is a lot easier in Bordeaux and Rhone. If you book far ahead, Burgundy is not a problem, especially the big houses like Bouchard and Faiveley.

no-one has mentioned the screw cap trials undertaken by Yalumba / Pewsey Vale et al in the 1970s, which partially contributed to the prevalence of screw caps today. There have been some stunning wines go the distance from those years, and I doubt they would have got there if under cork. Cheers Alla...

Science aside, i just dont like the idea of cellaring screwcapped great australian riesling for the next 20 years. Maybe i will change my perception one day, but for now i just cant spend more than $100 for a bottle of wine or any wine that can age for more than 15 years sealed with screwcap. quote...

Re: Are grapes washed or rinsed

Was watching the ABC program on the Draytons last Monday when my better half asked out loud whether the harvested grapes are washed or rinsed before continuing on the winemaking process. I replied NO as I am sure there is no such step as I recalled in winemaking. Am I correct? Is there any possibil...
