The last I heard from them was an offer to buy a T-shirt before Iraq War II.

"Make wine, not war."

Nothing since.

Max Allen is pretty busy these days though, his antics are sorely missed.

I have done this as is my policy when posts start referring to people or personalities, not wines. (edit) FWIW when someone mentioned a Seppelts spokesperson, I thought they were alluding to O'Connor the wine maker? Yes, maybe. If Brian could clear up the ambiguity above, it would (hopefully) be sa...

I'm a big fan of Craiglee, consistency and class year in, year out.

Conakilla, Seppelt St Peters and Turkey Flat never really disappoint.

Bargain territory (esp on special) Ingoldby and Tabilk are very consistent.

1946 Seppelt Great Western Sparkling Burgundy

I have been posting on many of the Australian wine forums for quite some time, even back to the old jameshaliday.com site. Those that I have met along the way, are probably aware of the quest I have had to get a single bottle of the Ultimate Aussie classic, the Seppelt Sparkling Burgundy 1946. It is...

Guilty as charged, Originally I was going to use them for a cork board, but the sheer numbers I now have mean that they will be the feature at half time for the grand final this year. I am picturing 20,000 school kids, all holding a collection of corks above their heads and (ala Rugby World cup) for...

Interesting

I voted 'other' as I have a sense of loyalty to another forum. I still enjoy reading here but I kind of feel that it's inappropriate to post. Pity, I detect some polarisation these days, which I see as a negative for both forums. Trouble is it all becomes a bit insular and cliquey if you restict yo...

I also recently bought some old Seppelts a 1954 Show Sparkling Burgundy and a 1946! Will post notes when i can think of a suitable occasion. I have been lucky enough to try the 53 Seppelt SP burg twice in the last 12 months. My brief impressions at Christmas last year were; 1953 Seppelts Sparkling ...

Anthony,

How does this compare to the 91 Centenary? You don't see the limited around very much at all.

Graeme,

Tyson Steltzer has just had his final exam last week for the advance course.

From all accounts the cost is well worth it, with a massive jump in tasting skills and indepth knowledge acquired through the course.

Mishy, Tried some of this on the weekend and it was pretty full on. Lots of chocolate/mocha/cocoa/coco pops. I found high alcohol and some pretty full on oak coming through the rich choco-fruit. In line with an extremely rich and pronounced McLaren Vale Shiraz. I'd be drinking it over the next two-t...
