Spelling aside - Nice work!

I think the way of the future will be specialising in one area of Oz and doing it well - I think by the food and wine over there, you picked well.

Keep up the good work

I second what Davo says - all too hard, too many disappointments - even if you find one - its overpriced relative to other varietals and even if you find one good producers vintage, chances are the next vintage will not be consistent.

Good luck trying anyway and welcome

SWR - Web Hosting

Hi all I noticed Mike's comments on Tyson's new web site thread about the joys, not of setting up a website. Am toying with idea of a site, a small simple one and wondered if anyone had some tips for new players on web hosting, setting up a new site and if blogs are better way to go. I am non specif...

Morning all I find it very hard to assess particulary red wines at the time of opening, esp those which are released so young on the market. Indeed, it is often on the second day after the oxygen has worked its accelerated magic that a wine starts to really show its true colours. IMO the 2003 and no...

Hi all

Anyone had one recently?

Thinking of cracking open up a bottle with some Chinese takeaway tonight (only joking, on the latter!)

The taste is hard to specify as I cant get barnyard or metallic tastes but the ar...

Much of the stuff available lacks objectivity and is tainted (pardon the pun) so your collective opinions are appreciated as well as the article reference Ric. Interestingly the wine is a 2001 Victorian Shiraz. I wi...

Morning all

What sort of features does a wine affected with Brett present on the palate as opposed to the nose?

If it is on the nose, will it then always carry to the palate or can you just smell it only in some cases.

I can find little material on the taste side to assist me

The problem to me is that its always comparing apples with oranges. Any comparison on this basis aint going to work out and it really isnt fair to either country's wines as they have never been made as competitors in any market on a stylistic basis. And really if any conclusion is made it can only b...

A hard one as birth wines are normally sentimental purchases rather than necessarily rational ones Will the 21 year old have enough wine nouse at that age to discern Grange from other potentially better purchases? Or will the iconic status dominate. Is it for show or go, is what I suppose I'm saying...

Agree with 3-4 bottle max comments. Nowadays with the lack of consistency of most of the old school wineries, a dozen purchase is rare and also with the variety of good stuff out there, there is just too much good stuff to try and it also limits the risk when you get ones that dont shape up with tim...

Gee I drank a lot of Wynns Black Label CS in the 1990's again bought by the case. It was so good in terms of qulaity, value and consistency. I dont have much left over after say 1998 vintage in the cellar and certainly the quantities are nowhere near case volumes. Pretty much the same with Bins 28, ...

clonakilla is living proof of how shiraz and viognier can go so well together, reminds me of meerea park terracotta, albeit the latter being a much bigger wine. who ever thought we would be raving of wines that combine red and white, eh ? - mind you shiraz vionier blends have been around a long time...

Ian I really think your approach and idea of listing out each writers points on a wine has great merit - tasting is always going to be subjective. All the best one can hope for is to align oneself to a/ few writers tastes. You can rate out of 10 or a million, the issue remains the same one Scope the...

I thought the Highlands recently got GI status - where are all their good wines?

Mount Majura and Brindabella Hills are my favourites in Canberra - agree that Riesling and Shiraz are the best varietals grown there. You have to search out the rest on a winery by winery basis.
