Missed out on the new Sami-Odi “Our Hill” Syrah, sounds like the offer has gone out in tranches with the first group having exhausted the minuscule quantities (only 815 bottles filled!). But I picked up 6 each of the Little Wine #11 and the Hoffmann Dallwitz.

Really interesting thread. I’ve just moved to a new house with a cellar so have been grappling with how best to organise. I previously had a wine fridge at home and then offsite storage. The new cellar has 12 rack sections (108 bottle each) and as my collection is 90% Australian I thought it easiest...

Couldn’t agree more on Qantas, the lounge wine is awful. Slightly better in business on the plane but not much. Like Chuck I recall being served St Henri 7-8 years ago in Premium Economy. Different world compared to Emirates where I was served 1985 Ducru-Beaucaillou in the Dubai lounge last year!

Had a mini vertical of Chateau Magdelaine Saint-Émilion tasting the 2005 and 2006 side by side. Interestingly the ‘06 tastes like it is 5-10 years older than the ‘05 despite being the younger wines. Light red with a brick tinge. Raspberry and leather dominate the nose. Juicy red fruit grab you befor...
