Re: Langtons site crash

Think their auction business and their shop / brokerage are quite separate. The wine is stored in different locations, and will be picked / packed separately I believe, even if it ends up on the same truck. If buying at Auction, I've taken advantage of leaving stock with them for a while until I ac...

Re: NEWS: Bass Phillip sold

Haha. We shall agree to disagree on disagreement. Interesting that you have never had a bad one and others have struggled to find a good one. The only reason an Australian pinot noir should not sell for over $750 a bottle is if wine drinkers consistently find the product faulty. Interestingly, I po...

Re: NEWS: Bass Phillip sold

I've never understood what all the fuss is about with this producer. I don't think I've ever had a good one. They're one of the few Aussie producers of Pinot Noir that manage a traditional Burgundian style IMO (wild, savoury-fruited, elegant and with suave tannin texture). If by faulty, people here...

I don't have the wedge for DRC ( tried it twice and yes, it's good). My buying is under $200 with a $50-100 sweet spot. I thought this year was interesting with a big come back from the Big Boy wineries! I haven't bought Penfolds in nearly a decade. 1st Place - 2017 Soul Growers Persistance Grenache...

Yeah why not, I'd be interested. Old school tasting. Maybe keep it casual and hit up Via Napoli or something. Is that the Via Napoli that is basically on top of Bardwall Park Train Station? If so I can confirm these are some of the best Pizza's I've ever had. I would definitely go Via Napoli with a...

Interesting! I haven't been a fan of Penny's for sometime and lashed out a bought a case of the St Henri 2016 after tasting. I thought the 311 tasted like it was a barrel selection that didn't make the cut for Yattarna (quite delicious). Agreed the scores are silly.

Tried the 2017 Standish release in the weekend and was really impressed. Whilst the Lamella had a little eucalyptus in the back it was very dark and generous. The The Standish and Relic were outstanding as usual but the Schubert Theorem was a dark, gorgeous thing and my pick of the lot!

Re: TN: Forest Hill Cabernet Sauvignon 2014 (Great Southern)

This is the 'Estate' model and not the premium Block series. Deep purple in colour. The nose shows a little menthol, blackcurrant and mulberry, along with some spicy cedary oak. Palate is medium to full bodied, and quite flavourful, especially the fruits - lots of dark berries - and some mocha. Tan...

The other thing I've heard is some wines have a high alcohol percentage...so I'm a tad wary it could a vintage whereby some wines never come around with the fruit fading before they mature nicely. I'm a believer that the best Bordeaux is usually sub 13.5% Having said all of this, I know I'll end up...
