Fabulous little-known wine. Not what I would call a quaffer!

Bought a couple of 2014s of this when we stopped into the winery on the way back from Kangaroo Island earlier this year. Lovely site, generous tasting facilities and the restaurant looks really nice, though sadly we didn't have time to eat.

If you're intolerant of brett, why did you go to the winery with him?ticklenow1 wrote: ↑Fri May 10, 2024 8:35 pm I tried the 2017 at the winery with Brett and can't recall any brett in any of the wines. That's not to say it isn't in your wines, but I'm normally quite intolerant of brett.

I agree with all that's been said above. My picks - being Perth born and bred who has had countless trips "down south" since the 80s - are: Leeuwin Estate - you can't go past this for the sumptuous lunch experience with excellent wines - the Art Series Chardonnay is (biased) the best in th...

Would anybody have seen these ports, and know anything about their quality? Something the old man bought in the 80s and has been passed down!

6 2021 Wynns BL Cabernet, at less than the price of one bottle of Standish. I should not be surprised, but with the 2022 releases just round the corner, stocks of 2021 are being cleared. TWE and the chains must have oceans of this wine, happy to help out at 50%+ off RRP. Cheers Craig Hmmm, $28.90 i...

Re: BYO Australia?
In Perth, I can heartily recommend Lulu's Little Bistro, just outside the CBD. Excellent mostly-French food, cosy 25 seater restaurant, and a chef who is a wine enthusiast. Newly opened, and open Thursday to Saturday at this stage. And BYO, of course. I second that! Been there a couple of times now...

I’ve been trying to backfill a bit of Houghtons over the past years. Got some Gladstones and JM at auction- the latter cooked! I follow the winefront team when shopping. There was a famously dud vintage to avoid. Still interested. Aussie cab is so cheap compared to Bordeaux and ages magnificently- ...

Re: Right, what are we/you drinking now .. tonight
I’ve been sampling a few old Petaluma wines this year purchased via auction and opened this last night. Cork quite a challenge to remove. Compost nose. Hint of fruit. Leather. In the mouth the fruit is still here, dark fruit. Tannic still, wow this has held together well. Plenty of structure. The f...

Re: TN: Qantas Business class - lucky dip time
Qantas Business class food and wine has definitely gone downhill since Covid, though I'm not saying anything most people don't already know. All Qantas lounges (yes, including that one) have also dumbed down their wine offerings.

Just bought one. Hoping it will help me to NOT drink the whole bottle in one sitting!
But also, it will be nice to try a glass of a few different wines at once sitting with the odd wine-loving friend.

Ordered 6 of each (30) and got charged for 6 - 20% success rate. Not particularly happy with that since I'm sharing with 2 mates, but oh well, I've got too much wine and drink too much anyway! Similar with me. Ordered 24 and got 6 (on the list since 2015). Re: What are the most ridiculously over-priced wines in the world?
At about $1100 AUD a bottle, Armand de Brignac Ace Of Spades Blanc de Blancs champagne! I drank copious amounts of it last weekend and compared it to a few other Champagnes and it was underwhelming. Maybe it’s supposed to be had with cocaine? Rapper and gangster Champagne. Yes it is a very average ...
