Must be a decent wine as Rob Gibson's 2003 BarossaVale Shiraz was one of the 15 reds in the taste off. He makes a dam good Barossa Shiraz too. I would doubt that it is Riverland fruit for the Casela wine? I think their profits last year were around $35 mil, thus, could just possibly afford to buy so...

Drinking report; 1978 Kalleske single vintage tawny port Pre-release sample. Lovely viscosity, concentration and complexity. Really delicious and wonderfully fresh. Bring it on! 2002 Turkey Flat Grenache Typical 'Lush' style for this producer. Not as 'Hot' as some vintages, easy drinking early in fa...

As I work in the industry, I get to see a massive amount of wine weekly, thus, will post some highlights only; 2002 Stonecroft Chardonnay (Hawkes Bay) The classiest delicate oak supporting a taut, long, superbly balanced wine. Very long finish. 2002 Stonecroft Syrah (Hawkes Bay) All pure ripe fruit,...

No, plenty of bubbles still.
Both bottles were very different; One really earthy, one stilghtly oxidised, both delicious though.
Cracked the 1944 & 1946 Seppelts Sparkling Burgundies in 2000 and both still had some gas.

I hosted a corporate tasting during the week where our aperitif was 1988 disgorged Rockford Black Shiraz. Frankly, a wine that rare, that good can sell for any price and $150 a throw is not out of order. I can imagine in another decade, what many other vintages of Black Shiraz will be worth. So, I t...

Ric Halliday is the chair of the Visy Baord Great Australian Shiraz Challenge and from memory, he gave the TFS 01 something like 19.1 or 18.9, so whether it is an average score of the judging panel or his score, he likes the wine. So do I only to a point, but it is not a great wine. By the way, the ...

Turkey of a Shiraz

I wholesaled Turkey Flat in NSW from the initial 1990 vintage through to the 1998 vintage so I know the wines well. While the 2001 has incredible concentration and intensity, it hasn't the viscosity or balance to hold it's high alcohol. I have tasted the 2001 Turkey Flat Shiraz 5 times and have been...

Dropbear Shiraz

I was working at a wine store in Edgecliff when this wine was released. I sold 500 dozen of the RockBare Shiraz 2002 in 3 months at $12.99. In my 20 years experience of retailing, it was one of the most re-ordered wines I have ever offered. It is a good drink for the money and the punters absolutely...
