Re: Wines for Investment
Financiers will let you borrow against a certain value of any asset in general. How much, and at what rate is dictated, largely by the stability of the intrinsic value of the asset. Of course, you may be asked to top up the facility if the value drops! If you are running a business, or investment po...

Re: Wines for Investment
1. Wine equalisation tax (WET) 2. High storage costs 3. High cost of valuation for margin lending 4. Potential to drink the profits (at the higher end of the market one bottle may do it!) 5. Insurance Just a few reasons why wine investing is fraught with risk Hobby investors and are usually concerne...

Both 05 & 06 are enjoyable, not tried the 09. Agree with Ozzie 06 prob the pick of the three.
See if you can snag some 99 - absolutely singing at the moment, and cheaper than 2010!

Re: Wines for Investment
Wineforlife, sorry mate perhaps I was being too subtle / sarcastic?
Casinos and wine investments are in the same league IMO, that is all.
Both offer similarly reliable ROI.
Best of luck

Re: Wines for Investment
There is a great place in most capital cities for those who would like to make money investing in wine. The best returns too - they have various names but casino will be somewhere in the title - buy chips instead of bottles. However, I have benefited from many 'wine investors' by buying their wares ...

That Mt Ed is a beauty!
I was going to post on footy as I haven't opened anything nice for a little while.
But it seems footy chat has been barred, so I dug this up. Good drop. Even tells you how many bottles worth are in 5L!

Re: What to buy from Greenock Creek Mailer 2014?
Hi Michael,
I've only had RR shiraz once and at ~$190 I can't justify the purchase. VFM definately lies in the GC shiraz that hasn't been elevated into the stratosphere by Parker points.
Is the RR range a regular purchase for you?

Re: Wendouree mailer 2014
mse, I agree it is tough when the retailers demand high prices for good yet uncommon wines, supply & demand I guess. I have been buying Wendouree wines (3-4 bottles / year) at a local independant since 2009, for ~2.5x cellar door price - hence the limited bottle purchase. I have also bought a fe...

Re: Wendouree mailer 2014
mse. I'm glad you got some of the wine you ordered.
As an aside, are you an only child, or did you have Christmas envy looking at your siblings presents?
There are a lot of sad faces in your posts about Wendouree - it is only a drink!
