At this stage i am planning on spending 1 day on the left bank and another on the right and from what i have r...

Re: Building a passive cellar on the cheap

Thanks for the feedback guys. I forgot to mention that i live in Sydney and am definitely planning to hold off until Mar/Apr time before making any final decisions. That way i'll have a full summers worth of temp data. I just wanted to see if i was on the right track with my thinking. Looking at the...

Building a passive cellar on the cheap

Hi Guys, Over the last couple of years my collection has grown rather rapidly and i'm now at the point where my current off site storage capacity is almost full. I moved into a new house last year and am thinking about attempting to build a small passive cellar to allow me to continue to expand the ...

Re: Cellaring Pinot

I'd agree with a number of others here who have suggested taking a look at Curly Flat, hoddles creek and Oakridge. I've drank a few of these with anywhere between 5-10 years of bottle age and have been consistently impressed. Vintage is key and you really need to focus on the better vintages if you ...

Re: Help with Italian Wine

I don't want to slag off at the Australian critics or professional writers but please remember they are very new at it. And the international experts, well, some seem keen to idolize then commercialize the wines as much as they can to ride on profitable coat tails. Apart from traveling to the regio...

Re: Help with Italian Wine

Casper, how about you give us an idea of what wines you like to drink, with and without food, and we can come up with some Italianate suggestions? Hi Paul, Sure. Like many i started off drinking quite a bit of Shiraz from the Barossa and Mclaren Vale. The bigger the better was the motto. Now howeve...

Help with Italian Wine

After many years of drinking mainly Australian wine i have found that my palate seems to be changing and i'm increasingly attracted to the flavour profiles of the wines of Europe. So far I've been focusing mainly on France (Burgundy & Bordeaux) and whilst i have found some good wines I've also h...
