Re: Brisbane Offline - Wednesday 15 April

One week to go. I have not asked my +1 at this point as we are pushing it for numbers - 11 if Luke and Rens both have +1. Roll call and wine list: Michael - 1998 Penfolds Bin 389 with a 1999 Wirra Wirra RSW as "backup" (and a 2006 389 in case one/both are stuffed) Also just remembered a 2...

Re: Brisbane Offline - Wednesday 15 April

If Cesar's mate would put out for us I reckon it would be worth a go particularly if he's a good cook. Graceville is ok but a $60 taxi fare back to town unless u think travelling on a train pissed is a good idea. I'll fit in however it goes and will just bring a Taittinger Comte BdB unless instruct...

Re: Brisbane Offline - Wednesday 15 April

I am easy with the venue, i suggested that place because of the wines we would be drinking as they have riedels for different varietals etc... We also wouldn't be eating yum cha, if we get a wine list he would put a menu together to match what we are bringing. Also a private room would be a benefit....

Re: Brisbane Offline - Tuesday 14 April

Sounds great! I'm in. My mate who owned the restaurant in Sunnybank has sold it and bought a new place in the Valley, remember where Siana used to be a cross the road from the FV Police station? We would get a private room Vinum Xls decanters etc so if anyone else is keen I can make a call. The food...

2009 Rusden Full Circle Mataro - don't know about this one, had one of their GSM's and couldn't finish a bottle. This had a similar overtly cinnamon sweet something which wasn't great. Anyone a fan?

Also for a more modern take try Roda, light and day compared to Lopez de Heredia (my two favorites from Rioja). Also for a cheap but good try Torres Celeste a great wine that packs a punch.

Re: Bringing wine in from overseas trip

I bought 8 750 and 3 magnums from Spain, I wouldn't bring the receipts out unless absolutely necessary and I just told them everything was 5-10 euros worth and they believed it, had a Magnum of Roda 1 and an early 90's Lopez de Heredia and it cost me a bit over $50.00 in tax. The biggest problem is ...

How about a Cabernet, East vs West theme. Something east coast v something west coast. Draw a line north to south through Uluru and everything to the left is west and right is east . May not go with the Sunnybank Chinese, but would be great with a steak-I wonder if Brent's has their beef cheeks on ...
