Re: Wine cabinet / fridge

After some research me and my friend bought a Kitchener Chatete 178 each around 4 years ago. Unfortunately we both needed the controller unit replaced like every year (the temperature would keep creeping up). While they sent a replacement with no charge every time it was a annoying process. Just now...

Re: Lost carton

While you can't put the blame on the winery, I would still raise the question and hope for a mutual solution. I'm sure most wineries won't just tell you tough luck bugger off. As mentioned above theres no proof that the courier ever left it 'behind the gate'. It could have been the delivery man's la...

Re: How much for Grange?

Personally have never bought one (like many others my upper limit for personal drinking is probably around $100) but have drank it on a few special occasions (the folks bought some back in the 90s when it was less than $200 a bottle. Agree how Grange is an icon wine and there isn't too much reason t...

Re: Wine prices - over the years

As with most things, prices would increase naturally due to inflation. Especially if you are comparing between a 20 year gap (1996 - 2015). Obviously some brands like penfolds have increased prices beyond the normal inflation because of their marketing ability, popularity of the wine and overseas de...

Re: Rockford Mailer in

Just went there yesterday. Nup, if not a stonewaller you can't buy even if you're not from SA. Comeback in March was the polite answer.

Tasted both the 12 RR and the 05 RR. Both were good but not much difference. The 05 was only a few $ more so I picked a few of those up.

Re: Rockford Mailer in

Hi there, do plan on visiting Barossa later this month and may well drop by Rockford. Not a stonewaller but if I visit their cellar door could I expect to pick up a some basket press? Or is it strictly sold to stonewaller only regardless of you visiting them directly or not even if you have come fro...

Re: Ideas for good gift/appreciation wines

Also I know the Penfolds Bin 8 comes in a cool little box. Yeah, it's Penfolds, yeah, it's commercial, yeah, the box is just a gimmick, but hang on to them for a few years to give them some age and so that the chains don't stock them any more and maybe gift them to people who don't know that much/a...

Ideas for good gift/appreciation wines

Hello all, Given the work industry I'm in I often need to send gifts. Often the people I send gifts to like wine so I think the most suitable gift would be a few good bottles of wine or when I am having a work related dinner with them it would be good to open a few bottles to drink together & ta...

Re: Aerate time - 1996 389

Thanks!

Sorry I have both bottles, more of the 1995.

Yes I have more than 1 decanter.

I'll try those times.

Hopefully the wines are in ok condition.

Aerate time - 1996 389

Hi there, Have an occasion tonight and opening 2 bottles of 1995 389s. It will be served in a decanter but do I need to give it some time to aerate prior? Reading around some people are saying you can drink older wines straight up or it may go off if you let it expose too long. I'm thinking opening ...

Re: Wine cabinet / fridge

Hi Mark,

I wouldn't say I am an expert but have recently bought myself the Chatelet 178 from Kitchener and am happy with it so far.

They are doing free delivery at the moment so might be worth a look.

Re: Should I store?

Thanks guys for the input.

I think I will try a few bottles and see and fridge the rest - can drink them at cool temperatures at least.

Also will gift or invite friends to drink that know the labels but aren't too experienced with what tastes good and what doesn't : )

Should I store?

Hi I'm new here so wondering if anyone could share some advice. I have several cases of Penfolds 386, 407 and st Henris bought many years ago. They are all around the 95 and 96 years. They have all been kept just beneath stair case over these years at room temperature - I am from Brisbane so tempera...
