Re: What to buy from Greenock Creek Mailer 2014?

Interesting. I don't have any from the 90's but I have some 04 seven acre shiraz and it it amazing - one of my fave wines regardless of price point.

Re: Penfolds St Henri Shiraz

in general, if buying a st henri's from last 14 years, stick with the even numbered years and you'll be right.

The 2010 is lovely, but way too young. I have 5 left. I should have only grabbed a couple. They'll be taking up space in my fridge for years.

Re: Penfolds 2014 release - any takers?

I'm having a glass of 2010 St Henri's as I work (tough I know).

It's a seriously good drop - an absolute steal at $73. I'm going to get a case.

Re: April 2014 purchases

One of my wifes relatives has a stack of grange in his cellar that he has no real interest in drinking. I went there to buy a 90 & 91 and when I saw the entire mint condition boxed case of 1990 it didn't take long for me to give in and take it. Still got the 1 bottle of 91 which was also mint an...

Re: Penfolds 2014 release - any takers?

My take on it is it's just a bad/average year so it's easy to slam them as quality drops but price remains fixed.

IMO the 2008/2010 Bin 28/389/407 are superb wines and whilst not bargains, I don't believe they are overpriced.

03 Dom is ok? lol. I've had better but I still thought it was as brilliant drip Thats why when the wife and I crack open a expensive bottle we will only do it with people who know the stuff, we decided to do this after blowing a $130 bottle of RWT on a family member who I doubt could tell the differ...

Buying old champagne

Hi Guys I have this totally unneeded urge to get a old bottle of champagne, can anyone point me to a good starting place? I assume one of the auction sites? Or somewhere overseas that sends to Australia? I'm thinking something from the 80's or earlier. No real reason I've seen some Dom's from the 60...

Some great wines in that lot .... and quite an eclectic bunch..... thanks for posting. Seajanus, do you always drink your iconic reds this young? Some of them were tasting at a winery, some were bottles I actually like a young red, but a old one when it hits the mark is certainly something special....

Re: Weekly Drinking Reports Thread as at 13/10/2013

I've probably forgotten more than I've drunk recently. We went on a holiday so really got stuck into it, and had bubbly stuff each night as well 02 Dom Perignon Rose - very very nice, but ultimately I expected more out of it. I honestly preferred the Gosset Rose (at a fraction of the price) or the ...

Re: Barossa trip

Great place for a short holiday for sure. If anyone wants a wallpaper from the above pics let me know which one I'll post higher rez versions. sjw_11, the place that disappointed me the most with cellar door pricing was kellermeister. I'd have loved to have bought a few wild witch shiraz's from them...

Re: Drinking old wines this weekend - tips?

Had the 99 RWT last night. Gave it about 3hrs in the decanter before first glass, no aerator. It was interesting seeing it change so much throughout the night first it tasted like a typical strong shiraz, very spicy with lots of currant flavour. beautiful smell & texture. then it mellowed out a ...

Did you decant this Sejanus? If so, for how long?

Cheers, Travis.

Drinking old wines this weekend - tips?

Hi Guys

Drinking 2 older bottles this weekend - never done it before. First one is a 1977 Grange - any tips on how long I should decant it for before serving?

Also a '99 RWT - same question :)

Thanks!

Newbie to storing wines long term - questions :)

Hi Guys Pretty new to wines in general, only really tasted my first red about 2 years ago but since then have become pretty addicted to the stuff. We have a 90 bottle wine fridge which is always dangerously full. Because the fridge is so full in general, I was thinking of buying a 2nd smaller fridge...
