Re: Unicorn wines of the future..

+1 for the 1998 Coonawarra Cabernet tasting - a once in a lifetime experience. And the lunch afterwards at Langtons restaurant wasn't too shabby either!
Couldn't believe how complex those Woodleys Treasure Chest wines were, and sadly I don't think I'll ever get to try the Peppermint Pattie again.

Geoff, yes about the same, think I have about 2 or 3 only of these two, yet full cases of Michael and Riddoch

Cheers

Yeah - a great night.

Great notes Cuttlefish.
We clearly need another night to compare those WOTN contenders again!

As much as I love Matteos, Scopri is a bit more affordable - and has the upstairs private room, which we should be able to get with this much notice.

The more people who prefer Margaret River wines the better as far as I'm concerned.
Very happy to still be able to pick up reasonably priced Coonawarra reds!

Had to go out again tonight because today is actually the anniversary.
Made do with a 1983 Pichon Lalande at Paris Go.

It's been in the cellar since 1992 and was in great shape - long and elegant, with chocolate and sweet fruit characters, and dare I say it, a bit of cigar-box.

Nice bottle for lunch today at Le Chassagne in Chassagne-Montrachet. In keeping with our goal of thinking globally but drinking locally, we had a 2007 Premier Cru, "Clos Saint-Jean" from Domaine Ramonet which went down very well with the 5-course lunch menu, after a glass of "Les Chen...
