Re: 2024 Rockford Mailer

Was up at Rockford’s last Friday did a stonewall tasting . All wines excellent . Local growers sem always a favourite. Was down in stone wall cellar saw they did a sav blanc in 1986. You got that one Craig!? :P

No real margin in flipping Wendouree or most cult wines . I get the ‘off load’ model freeing some $$$ for something else you have a greater passion for / aka palate shift .

I’m red crayon like most Wendouree- ites. I know some have the illustrious black signature . Is.there green crayon as well ? When I started with the mailer I was blank ! Now theres a gold crayon ( :P ) ? Is that between black and red ?

Re: Agricola Mailer

Hey sip. In my experience I’d be careful blanketing an entire vintage or avoiding it . I hear bad things from certain vintages in various regions but that often gets turned on its head when I speak to various winemakers at cellar doors and wine shows . Not to say 2023 wasnt up too much , but reading...

Re: 2024 Wendouree Mailer

I called the winery yesterday to change address and the Mailer is imminent. If there was ever a thread to lure you out of the woodwork Scotty V then this is it. I thought of you this week, hope the CV property is going well and you and Matt might get first dibs. I'm glad the lad has stated that Wen...

Re: Grange night (best vintages?)

Good one Craig!. Thanks for that. I think we're still gonna stick with the 2010 and 1971 and go for an 80's and 90's.
Was talk of a 2004 instead of the 2010 but we'll see what the group thinks!

Great input from all as usual. Thanks guys.
Has me thinking I may look toward less heralded vintages to fill the gaps.
What's the general thoughts on the 92?

Grange night (best vintages?)

Hi Guys
I'm doing a Grange night with some of the lads.
Got a 71 and a 2010.
What other vintages would be good in between? I was thinking 1983 and 1990.
Thoughts?

2022 Ministry Of Clouds McLaren Vale Picpoul. Great zingy zesty wine. riesling-esque you'd have to say but the acid profile seemed slightly different. Citrus notes lime/lemon some apple/pear/floral characters. love this. paired with natural oysters and lemon. as for stemless. pretty much my go to gl...

Re: WINE STASH RACKS. Don't go there folks.

Got a refund from these guys. Better result than I was expecting. Ended up using FBM and got a pretty good deal on a Bordex 220 rack. Wine Stash claimed to be having material supply issues. What irks me is they're not up front with this in the beginning. Same old. Claim a 4 week delivery, take your ...

WINE STASH RACKS. Don't go there folks.

Just a heads up it looks as though I've been stung by wine stash for a rack I've ordered. Seemed like they were ok selling thru Bunnos etc but seems to have gone belly up. I lost taste and smell for about 3 days . It came back slowly. The first day out of ISO I went to Hugh Hamilton for a taste. All the wines (the reds in particular ) smelled like sesame oil. It was very bizarre. What was also strange was the non ALC palate cleanser they gave me up front. had a sprig ...

Re: POLL: The Penfolds Collection 2022 - Are you buying any this year?

I never really plan to buy penfolds. But last few years ive dropped into the Nuri cellar door and its always a pretty good experience. Always attentive and happy to open just about anything. Can often grab a 2 for 1 deal and there's always some cellar release gear stuff thats of half decent value. I...

3 x 2018 Boasso Barolo Margheria Interesting! We stayed in one of the apartments that the family rent out, and can recommend them if ever in the region (they're near Serralunga).
