It's already on the map! Why get the Bogong moths to push a $25-30 bottle to $75 just so they can brag about it. Get on the mailing lists of a number of LC winemakers and just keep mum about it.
I love the specificity of not just moths to a flame but Bogong moths ! :D

Purchased unknown, and never had a wine from this label before. Anyone across it?

Cheers Ed
Never heard of it.. for a second I genuinely thought it was an Irish riesling based on the name and I nearly fell off my chair

Shiraz Viognier. Oh my yes, I recall a few years, maybe circa 2010-12 when every man and his dog was chucking Viognier into their Shiraz as if that alone made it a premium product! There were some absolute shockers out there. Funnily enough I opened a Pierre Gaillard Côte-Rôtie 2020 last night with...

Re: What unpopular (wine) opinions do you have?

They are contravening labelling laws I don't think so... the labelling laws allow you to call a wine a single variety if that variety is more than 85% of the blend (850ml per litre), and also requires that if you do refer to the components of the blend you list the components in descending order of...

Re: 2015 cote de beaune … questions

Hi there, It doesn't look like Francois de Nicolay make any wine just labelled Cote de Beaune... if you have the one called "La Grand Chatelaine" then it is worth about $40 US it would seem. I would note that selling wine directly in Australia is not legal unless you possess a liquor licen...

I hope everyone had a great Xmas and will have a great New Year to come! In the end my xmas wines over Xmas Eve - Boxing day: Louis Latour Pouilly Vinzelle En Paradis 2020- pretty fresh and clean style, decent for £20 2015 Château Langoa Barton- from BBR so excellent provenance, still super youthful...

Crazy Penfolds tasting note

I just had a totally anodyne Pennies Max's Shiraz/Cabernet 2019 that could have been from anywhere with ripe sweet fruit. Unobjectionably but a bit sad as a "global ambassador" for Oz which is widely available. While checking its technical details, I came across Penfolds own tasting note f...

Couple of randoms for xmas period:
1x Langoa Barton 2015
1x Penfolds Bin 311 2022 (which interestingly is about $1 cheaper from BBR than it would be in Oz from Uncle Dan's)

Re: So what wines are on the Xmas menu this year?

Xmas this year will be with some friends at an Airbnb house in Devon. At this stage I am eyeing off a 2011 La Chapelle de la Mission Haut-Brion and possibly a magnum of Muga Prado Enea Gran Reserva 2010. Both have been bouncing around cupboards for a couple of years without ever being drunk, so I do...

I was at Gatwick for three months on course and I didn’t even have to go beyond Tesco Extra. In Adelaide I have to drive to the hills to get a decent apple versus local supermarkets. I don't know the area around Gatwick that well but if you found "excellent" produce in a Tesco Extra that ...

Re: Favourite Mailing Lists / Annual Releases

I trimmed a lot back on Aussie wine buying having been out of the country for so long. These days I just buy Rockford BP and a small pack ...
