Craiglee wines
Hi there everyone Could anyone shed some personal light on the wines from Craiglee in Sunbury Victoria for me? I have read JH notes, which are glaringly favourable, but I was hoping for peoples experience on their wines. I have been tempted in the past without buying any, but the temptation is reari...

Marques de Murrieta Reserva 2005 Rioja - Tar, aniseed & cloves, Plenty of interest on the nose. Dry, dusty tannins, however lacking the up front fruit expression I was expecting. Needs to breath in decanter. 60mins later I found it. Opened a Castillo de Bayren Manchego and the saltiness in the ...

Kitchener wine frides
I know this is a topic that has been flogged like a dead rabbit on this forum BUT........ I am considering purchasing a Kitchener wine fridge and looking at either the Peltier range or the Chatelet range. Any constructive advice and/or experiences on either of these options would be greatly apprecia...

Value for money Bordeaux producers
Following on from Teisto's thread on wine styles and also some recent experiments with some Euro wines I would like some advice on purchasing good value Euro wines. In particular any recommendations on Bordeaux producers. To be honest my budget is $50-$150/bottle so obviously no first growths, but I...

Recent purchases
Hi there everyone Just purchased a few wines at an auction where the proceeds all went to a worthy optometry fund to give sight to the poor. Wouldn't mind any opinions on some of the wine I bought and advice on drinking. All wines were from a reputable private cellar whose conditions I understand we...

Re: Candidate for best value red
Hard to beat Mike Press Shiraz or Cab Sauv (any vintage) at about $10/bottle. I have never been anyting but blown away at the value for money. Only problem is that at this price I just keep drinking them without giving them a chance to get any hint of bottle age.

Lakes Folly 2011 Release
Hi all Anybody else out there about to get their Lakes Folly allocation? I've been on the A-List for a few years and have never been dissapointed. I must admit I am especially looking forward to the 2009 Cabernets as I have chosen it as the birth year wine for my beautiful daughter. I also put away ...

I had the 2008 vintage which was good, but not great. I have recently tried a few NZ Cental Otago pinots however that I can highly rate. Chris Ringland Shiraz
I am currently on my 2nd glass of a bottle of 2008 Chris Ringland Shiraz 16.5% alc . INTENSE...... What a dense, brooding, fruit bomb. I actually really like it. Never tried this wine before, but it does remind me in structure and density to a tasting of some the Torbreck wines when I had the good f...

I don't think you should get too worried. I got the red crayon last year and still got a full order. This year I had no crayon. Two years in a row I've been lucky to get offered all I ordered. Maybe no crayon is the evil sign..... We''ll see anyway. Good luck with your order.

2007 CJ Pask Declaration Syrah - decanted for 2 hrs before drinking. Probably a bit young, but showing what I believe really good cellaring potential as it was much more open 2nd night. 2006 Rockford Rifle Range Cab Sauv - What a great soft velvety wine. Pitty it was my last bottle of this vintage....

I'm on the Rockford Mailing list, but not a Stonewaller yet. I have bought many of the so called "lesser" wines for the past couple of years and I can confidently say that I have not yet had a Rockford wine that didn't give me a "Wow" moment. I have drank the Moppa Springs (GSM),...

redwine After reading your tasting notes on the 1985 Henschke I got to thinking. I first tasted the 2004 vintage about 2-3yrs ago and was blown away by the wine. 2007 Cumulus Rolling Shiraz - really enjoyable no brainer shiraz for a lazy Sunday night with homemade pizza. Hesketh The Proposition - spritzy strawberry bomb. My wife loved it and I thought it was nice too. Apparently semillon with a touch of shiraz to give it the pink colour & a bit of body....

Fantastic notes. Great to read. I was at All Saints for a tasting a few weeks ago and was blown away by the stickies. We tasted through a few of the wines, such as- 2009 Moscato - Good little apertif wine that i am sure would go down a treat. Quite sweet & spritzy. 2008 Temp Grenache - chewy &am...

Re: 2007 Symphony Hill Shiraz (Granite Belt QLD)
I can strongly recommend the wines from Boireann . I have especially enjoyed their mouvedre blends in addition to their flagship shiraz viognier. Wines that really engage you. Give them a go before you write off the Granite Belt. I am sure there are other labels that also impress, but for me it's al...

2007 Tyrrel's Single Vineyard Steven's Shiraz - Velvety, masculine and very dense fruit. Vanilla bean and a touch of red dirt. Kept getting better as the bottle went on. Glad I still have some left for another day. However I won't open the next one for at least 5-7yrs. Definately my WOTY so far. Chad

1988 Tahbilk Cabernet Sauvignon - Initially quite closed although had been decanted for about an hour. We thought we could smell the tiniest hint of fig and mulberry emerging after a while in the glass. Eventually it opened up to reveal a grand antiqueness that reflected it's 22 years. Smokey and h...

Re: Your favourite QPR aussie riesling
I would have to say any of the Bellarmine rieslings (Riesling, Dry or Auslese). Year in year out fantastic wines. I like the Auslese the most as it can be drank as an apertif, with a main meal or even as a desert style wine. It is just so beautifully balanced with acidity and fruit. Truly a magnific...

I'm having a 2008 Mike Press Adelaide Hills Cab Sauv tonight. I hope it's as good as your tasting notes suggest. If my previous experiences of MP wines are anything to go on, it'll be very very good. To date the 2007 cab sauv was my favourite MP wine, closely followed by the 2008 shiraz. I was speak...

Last night I had the pleasure of drinking a 2009 Boireann Merlot Petit Verdot . Very nice and complex. Decanted for 2 hrs before drinking. Solid structure and plenty of fruit.
