Free to a good home: Large wine racks
Hi all, I have 2 large wine racks which I no longer need. I hope the denizens here can put them to good use. Rack 1: 368 bottle capacity, 1640x2340x200mm galvanised steel mesh with 20mm steel frame Rack 2: 288 bottle capacity, 1200x2400mm galvanised steel mesh (can be used for 1/2 bottles too). Thes...

Re: Guess this wine...
yes, google image search is a spoiler.
Actually, the correct answer is Charles Joguet Chinon. The photo is from a 1996 Clos de la Dioterie, but the label is similar on the other wines.
Frank.

Ageing Champagne
It's not such a silly question. After 15 years in your cellar, it will loose some of it's bubbles, but it should not oxidise since the bottle is pressurised with CO2. Some people like aged Champagne, while others prefer to buy a late disgorged Champagne (which can be very pricey). Aged champagne can...

Wine Hunter
I've just finished reading Campbell Mattinson's book Wine Hunter and I thought I'd post a few comments. I noticed a few interesting points from this biography. Although O'Shea had French winemaking training, he adopted an approach to blending that violated many French winemaking laws (althougth at t...

Re: Info. About Aussie Riesling Needed
The only Mosel-style Aussie Riesling I know of is Wellington FGR Riesling.
I haven't tried it, but it has only 8.5 per cent alcohol, 40 grammes per litre of sugar and just under ten grammes per litre of acidity.
I don't know if Gavin stocks it, but it can be googled.
Cheers,
Frank

I tried this wine on release (in 2003 I think)
It's a good vintage for the CdR, and should be good drinking now.

Budget Pinots
I am currently drinking through a case of Rosevears 2000 Pinot, which I bought for about $22/bt (case price) a few years ago. It's also possible to buy french Bourgogne under $30/bt. These wines can keep in good years if they are from reputable domaines/negotiants. I recently had my last bottle of 1...

Sounds like a very promising alternative! Are you saying that they are pretty much all ready to go? What depth are they? (or do you have to weld them?) Where do you buy them? That's right, you buy the mesh, and make it yourself, so you can determine the depth. You can also determine the angle your ...

Thanks for the information and any idea how much will it cost include installation for an area around 80 m3? This is too much space for a Fondis Unit, especially in Brisbane. I'm getting a cellar built in my garage and having a Kirby refrigeration unit installed. This is an Australian made unit wit...
