Re: 1990 & 1986

Many thanks for the suggestions so far. I really appreciate the knowledge, as I am very limited to Australian-centric wines. Good idea about the larger formats, that will open up a few other considerations. please keep the suggestions coming. Cheers.

1990 & 1986

I am looking to cellar wine(s) from both the 1990 & 1986 vintage with the aim to get them to 50 years, around $600 value for each year. I'm not after a specific style or region, just something that will get there. I've been reading a few posts here and there and the Penfolds Bin90A crops up a fe...

Re: I love a bargain in these tough times.....Please share y

the best i have done is 2x Hill Of Grace for $90 in '07 of a mate who didn't know what they were. Nice mate you are! Agreed. Harsh. To put it into perspective he wanted to give them away to me because he knew i drank wine and he does like it at all, i offered all the money i had in my wallet at the...

Like the other times I picked up a Dome 24 bttls wine fridge for $50 at target. And today I was just browsing the local book store when I saw "1001 wines you must try before you die" by Houn Hooke for just $12. Now all I need is to find a Vintec unit for under $200. (when hell freezes ove...

Well I just grabbed a 05 389 on the weekend and just realised last night that it is nearly at the shoulder edge. Way unacceptable ullage for a current wine. I did post a query about my other Penfolds wines recently that had below normal ullage but seemed the consensus was I was being fussy (they we...

i have a pretty new vintec 40 bottle fridge, it does smell a bit plastic like, but also a little woody too... i dont find it overly pungent though. i put it down to the fact that it was brand new.

im pretty sure the smell wont effect the wines in anyway at all. at least im hoping not.
