Anyone tried the Highbank Cab blend 2001? I'm thinking of picking a few bottles up, 1 to drink and 2 to cellar, if anyone knows the wine, how long in the cellar would you recommend? lantana Lovely wine. Try one now and then decide as you say. I'd say it no danger in cellaring it at least till 2011 ...

I agree with Wayno, to me Dijon seemed quite industrial, we only stayed one night and managed to have a very nice dinner and a tip top bottle of Tollot Aloxe Corton if I do recall, but I wouldn't bother staying there again as Beaune is where it's really at! The tourist centre in Beaune can point you...

While I was stuck in Melbourne on a Wine Australia weekend (in Sydney)... Yesterday, Wendy and I did a trip out to Yarra Valley to check out a few cellar doors. We had a good run through the eastern suburbs and the weather wasn't cold, and while the day stayed grey and heavy with fog it wasn't wet....

The problem/excuse I most often hear in Au is that we have a poor Merlot clone. GW And overcropping, is anyone trying to produce merlot from really low yielding sites, or won't the marketplace stand that sort of expense for merlot, like it can for shiraz and cab, even pinot noir for that matter, wi...

I like espresso, as in long black or a short black if in a rush. Has anyone else experienced ordering a long black (actually I always ask for a strong long black) only to receive the regular shot of coffee served in a bucket (extra large cup) right to the top with water, making for a boiling cup of ...

They must have loosened the laws at least for entry level burgundy a while ago, I recall some Joseph Drouhin Laforet Bourgogne from I think at least a couple of years ago, also including pinot noir on the front label, I vaguely recall them also having a chardonnay labelled similarly.

Just answer the door naked. That seems to work. GW Yeah but then you have to clean the vomit off the porch. Hmmm, naked and vomiting, yeah that would probably get rid of most of them, I'll have to try that next time, of course it would have to be projectile, that way you could overshoot the porch a...

Griff Excellent thoughts. My thoughts on your thoughts: Heating up may increase production of TCA except I think this would take more than a few minutes to achieve, which I think is the time frame of this method. I think it would take hours to days and the mould would need to be alive, of course. A...

Alex Thanks for yor reply I am suggesting that TCA is so easily detectable by sensitive people in very low concentrations that it persists with time and is detected more easily than the volatile aromatics that we normally associate with wine. I guess I am saying that with the water method, halving ...

Sorry, it seems as if I've been misunderstand when I said it would be in full bloom the next day, what I meant was that the TCA would have 'blossomed' as in it would be more obvious. TCA from my experience does get worse with more exposure to air. We often do a little test with TCA suspects that are...

Random oxidation Without any oxidative characters, I don't think so. More likely to be that insidious type of TCA taint that just mutes the fruit. Grinners, how was it showing the next day or did it go down the sink on the night? If it was tainted it should have been in full bloom the next day. lan...

Some fairly harsh calls in regard to the length of time this bottle was decanted, I'd like to ask did you check the progress of the wine over that 48 hr period or did you just open it and stick the cork back in the bottle or did you actually put it in a decanter without a stopper for 48hrs? I would ...
